Subject: What is really smart, and interesting, about this game

So, clearly, the idea is to treat the adventures of the protagonist as an ongoing serial of sorts. Which I find to be oddly unique in terms of games for iPad or mobile apps.

For the most part, games offer a free version, then a pay version for content.

I find it really interesting that this game is the first I have played for iPad where really, its the story (and of course, content) that is what will compel me to buy subsequnet chapters. It's really smart, and it really is such a great way to approach the relatively cheap (in comparison to console games) world of iPad or mobile games/apps.

It's going to be necessary, though, to make sure that story continues to be compelling and worth catching up on. The replay value of the game I'm not entire sure about so far. But that isn't to say it isn't well done and it isn't a joy to play. In fact, it makes buying subsequent chapters all that much more attractive.

Really enjoyed the first chapter.

EDIT: I do wish, though, that I could come to BNet to see my stats and so-on for this game.

Ah, yes. But it isn't tied to my BNet login.
Not a huge deal, I know it keeps stats. I just wish I could tie it to my BNET login and check it here rather than a FaceBook login.
Thanks though.

Here we see a wild stosh, taking a rare stroll through the forums while he hunts his prey, the South African Toast.

OT: Harebrained schemes seems to have their head on correctly as far as making a game goes. They've gone about the story, design, and promotion in all the right ways and hopefully we'll see more Bungie Aerospace/Harebrained Schemes partnerships in the future.

Do you know what kind of hat I'm wearing?

A party hat; you don't get one. An honor will this party be, a party in your honor, for your honor. Some of Tfear's personal guards are going to be there. You'll be introduced shortly.

Prepare to die.

Indeed, I liked the story so far.
There are a few cliffhangers that hint towards bigger battles and interesting plot points.

Agreed. All the changes are good and add variety. Do we really want another Halo 3? Just running around with one gun and no armor abilities? It's good that 343 wants to try something new. Do we really want the same thing for three more games?

Additional clarification: all Facebook is used for is to identify you so we can find your stats for when you look them up on bungie.net. There is no integration with your Windows Live ID account or posting to your Facebook profile.

Exactly. So, like serial fiction or whatever, the lower cost makes the ongoing commitment more acceptable, rather than paying MORE money for additional content on a console game, for example.
If you can get through 5 additional chapters (as long as the story entices you to do so, and the gameplay evolves in a way that keeps it interesting) 10 dollars for an ongoing story is much more appealing, I think, than 10 dollars for sporadically released content to an existing game.
This seems to be at least as much about the story as it is about content, and that seems pretty novel and unique. It shouldn't be, really, when you think about it. But it is.
It's really smart, and it is a much more appealing reason (to me) to continue to invest in a STORY rather than just basic content additions.

Yes, because Windows Live ID is not supported on iOS. Facebook is.

Granted, the current "unconnected" experience (where your Facebook isn't part of your bnet account) isn't optimal.

But it doesn't take a genius to guess probably development strategies for a cross-platform future. Don't worry, we're working on it. :)

Sweet. Looking forward to that.
And, for the record, I didn't intend this thread to be about not liking the way you have to use FaceBook to look at stats.
It was much more about the things I really LIKE in the game, and what I find really compelling about it.
The stats, that was actually a last minute addition to the post, and is really just a byproduct of me being used to coming to BNET to look at game stats anyway.
Not a serious negative to my Crimson experience at all.

When I grow up, I want to be just like goofenhour.

I wouldn't mind being able to check out peoples stats on Bnet. If and online version ever gets incorporated, I wouldn't mind seeing the ability to play with people from Bnet or something like that.

Well, you can check out other people's stats, but only if you're Facebook friends with them.

Logic: Really? Then please explain how there's violence in third world countries. I guess they're all poor due to the large amount of video games they buy.

Wait, would that mean the game will be available not just for the iPad then? It sucks that I can't play this game on my Android phone, heck even my iPod Touch.
