Nope. SouthPole isn't a person. He's the avatar of the force of tryhards everywhere. He stalks the web looking for retards to set straight. He can not be stopped by mere bans or thread locks for he shall rise anew.

I have a serious question: Why did MLG take up Reach?

Same reason I did.
It's called Halo.

  • 09.01.2011 8:04 PM PDT

Reach is 100% perfect, and the single most competitive game since Candyland. Anyone who dares question the godly powers of Bungie is obviously just bad at Halo.

I'd also like to throw out this conundrum. What happens with static reticules when half of the reticule is on the guy and half is off?

Then you have to land 5 shots at 50% accuracy against someone who may very well have 100% accuracy with no punishment to speed.

0.5^5 is about 3%, so the person who only puts half of his reticle on the target has a 97% chance of dying, and a 3% chance of tying (assuming that his opponent has 100% of his reticle on his opponent.)

Holy assumptions.

Ya he has a 3% chance at a 5 shot if all 5 shots are fired at 50% and his opponent hits all 5 perfectly. lol

What if he is going for a kill shot with 50%? Or his opponent misses some shots, or he gets a couple 80%s and a couple 33%s and a 78%? Or you know, some other realistic scenario that isn't a polar extreme to prove one's point?

Point being unless your weapon has a dot as a reticule, there's going to be randomness involved.

It's true that there will always be some randomness, but with the DMR's tiny reticle, there's barely any.

Can't wait to see how OP the spammers are going to be.

Of course spamming is going to overpower pacing. Why the Hell would anyone pace a gun without bloom?

Isn't that what you guys are whining about?

^ This guy thinks spawnkilling is mean and is the result of someone who is bad and can't "fight like a man".

Just a forewarning of what you're dealing with.

Looking to hook up with some competent players! Please PM me if you want a decent team mate, looking to learn from good players and impart what I know to the team too. Im sick of going 'randy' and getting betrayed for the sniper etc.. and having to put up with BK team mates

Good question, I guess it was just a course of progression,

H2 - H3 - reach,

doesnt mean they are happy with reach though..

As long as spamming beats pacing 100% of the time, then I have no problem, because at least then it's consistent.

Either way, you're bad. Spawn killing takes skill (hence the fact that you could never pull it off), and players should be rewarded for there skill. And since when does using your skill mean you didn't fight like a man? I suppose real men only fight with luck.

No, but a "precision" weapon firing at semi-auto isn't skillful either. 343i forgot to lower RoF.

-blam!- that. 343 better not lower the RoF. Reach's base kill times are WAY too long (and before you say it, Call of Duty's kill times are WAY WAY WAY too short), and a quick 5 shot kill may just be able to create a balanced kill time.

No, it doesn't but it's not even close to as broken as a lot of people make it out to be.

Maybe not, but if it's broken at all, then it should be fixed.

Exactly. We are talking about the most basic element of any shooter. Shooting your gun!!! In reach it doesn't work correctly.

Because they actually made it quite competitive. Reach mlg is more entertaining than H3 mlg imo.

I have a serious question: Why did MLG take up Reach?

Because it takes way more skill than CoD or Battlefield, and games like Unreal Tournament and Shadowrun are all too old to have a thriving fan base.

  • 09.02.2011 12:36 PM PDT

Why are people still making threads about bloom? This is why there are 10x more people in the flood thread.

Battlefield actually won't ever be labeled as "competitive" because no one in the current age wants to form teams of 12. Also Battlefield is not known, at all, for its deathmatch.

And please, don't pull the "too old" card, Super Street Fighter II Turbo is still played competitively at Evolution, God's Garden, Super Battle Opera, as well as others.

Personally? Sometimes I wonder if FPS MLG somewhat begs off from PC FPS games because they take "more skill" than console FPS games. Because quite honestly, MLG has been clinging to console FPS games for a long, long time, and pushing other games out until recently. To my knowledge (I may be wrong) but didn't MLG WoW stop? SC2 finally earned a higher spot and LoL finally was given a spot. Smash Bros. was also dropped.

Because mot of the topics on the Reach forums are started by prepubescent whiny assed little girls that have nothing better to do than -blam!-.

Yes it does

Yet you can't come up with an argument for why it does. You just say it does, because Bungie put it into the game and to you, that means it must be good.

I forgot to ask, how can an inanimate object like a video game be "skillful?" If skillful is even a word. Which I'm pretty sure it isn't by the way.
