Nope. SouthPole isn't a person. He's the avatar of the force of tryhards everywhere. He stalks the web looking for retards to set straight. He can not be stopped by mere bans or thread locks for he shall rise anew.

I forgot to ask, how can an inanimate object like a video game be "skillful?" If skillful is even a word. Which I'm pretty sure it isn't by the way.

...
Oh my god.
I think you actually have a learning disability.

I guess by your logic, football doesn't take skill.
How can an inanimate object like a football take skill?

The people playing the game have skill. The inanimate object has no skills at all. If he had asked if "Bloom makes you a more skillful player" or "Does bloom require more skill than no bloom?" then I wouldn't have said anything. But, the game itself has no skills.

The title of this thread is "Bloom Does NOT Make This Game More Skillful" implying that the game itself has some type of skillset. Which it doesn't. Because its an inanimate object.

No, but a "precision" weapon firing at semi-auto isn't skillful either. 343i forgot to lower RoF.

-blam!- that. 343 better not lower the RoF. Reach's base kill times are WAY too long (and before you say it, Call of Duty's kill times are WAY WAY WAY too short), and a quick 5 shot kill may just be able to create a balanced kill time.
If they took out bloom and didnt lower the ROF, it would be a one gun game, there would be no reason to pick up a power weapon unless you were going to camp around a corner with it.

You took the title way too seriously.
I don't know if your post was meant to be a joke, but god damn.

I like bloom, because it can reward players that pace their shots better than spammers. It helps the game, just not in every scenario.

I like bloom, because it can reward...

I think you just made the best argument against bloom. You said it "can reward" as in sometimes it doesn't. I personally don't mind bloom, but I think it combined with a lot of the other problems with Reach is what some people don't like about the game. It is just too random. Sometimes you kill people with one grenade, sometimes it takes three. Sometimes you win if you pace your shots properly, sometimes you don't. All of it added together makes the game a little frustrating sometimes. I still like Reach, but I do understand why a lot of the more skilled players don't like it as much as casuals like myself do.

By can reward, I mean if you use it correctly against somebody who doesn't. But as you said, it's not guaranteed just because almost anything can happen in the game, but it gives an upper hand to the players that adjust accordingly.
and off topic, I look at myself as a competitive player and I enjoy the game quite a bit! I don't think bloom takes away from the fun, even if I'm an odd man out.

I have a serious question: Why did MLG take up Reach?

Because it takes way more skill than CoD or Battlefield, and games like Unreal Tournament and Shadowrun are all too old to have a thriving fan base.

Battlefield actually won't ever be labeled as "competitive" because no one in the current age wants to form teams of 12. Also Battlefield is not known, at all, for its deathmatch.

And please, don't pull the "too old" card, Super Street Fighter II Turbo is still played competitively at Evolution, God's Garden, Super Battle Opera, as well as others.

Personally? Sometimes I wonder if FPS MLG somewhat begs off from PC FPS games because they take "more skill" than console FPS games. Because quite honestly, MLG has been clinging to console FPS games for a long, long time, and pushing other games out until recently. To my knowledge (I may be wrong) but didn't MLG WoW stop? SC2 finally earned a higher spot and LoL finally was given a spot. Smash Bros. was also dropped.

Well console FPS's is what got mlg to where they are today.

I dont quite know why WoW stopped, but it was barely even on the circuit. It probably wasnt worth the trouble of holding events for. Also, Smash Bros probably got removed because they werent allowed to stream it.

This is only SC2s 2nd season on the circuit, so it wasnt gonna be the main game right away.

I wonder if StarCraft 2 and League of Legends will eventually take a much bigger portion of MLG. League of Legends, on its own, has a larger fanbase than all of the FPS games on MLG combined.

It depends how popular it gets as a spectator sport.

And SC2 is already the main game on the circuit.

One problem I had with MLG, as a company, was I always felt they were too narrow.

While yes, they grew on FPS gaming, FPS games are generally the most (and potentially only) popular here in the States, which severely limits the audience. Even when they had games like WoW, Smash, etc, they always felt shoved to the side in lieu of the shooters. While MLG is popular, I don't think it hit it's true potential until SC2 was made the "main" game.

Reach is 100% perfect, and the single most competitive game since Candyland. Anyone who dares question the godly powers of Bungie is obviously just bad at Halo.

In Halos 1-3, spamming was ALWAYS better than pacing. In Reach, it only works sometimes, making the game inconsistent. And don't say that Reach just made bloom visible. Yes, previous Halos had forms of bullet spread, but they never had anything that functioned at all like the DMR in Reach.

Well, WoW and Smash just werent drawing in enough money to take over the main game. Also, of course they are going to cater to the states, that is where all the tounraments are, except for like 1 in 08 in Canada.

I find it odd that WoW and Smash didn't generate attention while Street Fighter continually does. And while SF tournaments are held world wide, Evo is always here in the states.

I'm not saying it worked or not. I'm just annoyed that so many people are treating it like its new. Also what do you mean nothing functioned like the dmr in the past halos? Its just a single shot version of the br with better range.

There was never a single shot weapon in Halo that had bullet spread similar to that of the DMR.

Take a carbine, magnum, or BR from any past Halo game and shoot as fast as you can WITHOUT HOLDING DOWN THE TRIGGER, and you'll notice that the gun doesn't become less accurate.
