A... a backdoor? What's that? Sorry if my lingo is not up to date, but do you mean spyware or something?

So he's using a program to be able to have RCON on any server using his maps? Good point, I won't download the map, but I was thinking of it :O.

He only has access to the server, not your computer. He can't do anything to your computer with this that he couldn't already do. There is a script in the game, and he is using it. All it is doing it changing the RCON on the server ( the password to use server functions like kick and ban) to a constant one. Once the server moves onto another map, you can change the RCON to something else without him being able to do anything. Maybe you should make sure of your facts before accusing someone of creating a trojan. It is the same as giving him RCON to your server. While its not a nice thing to do, he wanted to stop his map from being leaked at the time. He released it because the project was put on hold and he wanted people to see SOME progress.

A destructive program that masquerades as a benign application
Taken right from your definition. It is neither distructive nor does it masuerade as an application. You are told what happens. He won't shut down your sever, because he released the map. It was a precaution against leakers when it was a private beta.

"A "Trojan" is a computer file that pretends to be safe, but actually allows people to access your computer without permission. It's a federal offense to create or knowingly distribute that kind of file."

1. you are talking about some other virus thing, spyware maybe, not a trojan, trojans are viruses that stay dormant for a while so you don't know where you got it from or some other reason such as that.
2.He's TELLING us about this backdoor, so run the map at your own risk, if there really is any.

As for the guys who are insulting everybody, just shut up, you are making yourselves look like jerks.

You're all wrong!

Tro·jan1 n.
1. A native or inhabitant of ancient Troy.
2. A person of courageous determination or energy.

Tro·jan2 adj.

Of or relating to a celestial body, especially an asteroid, that is in one of the Lagrangian points of a two-body system. Used especially of any of a group of asteroids that orbit at Jupiter's distance from the sun, but 60° ahead of or behind the planet.

Can anyone translate the second one to English please?

Sorry for this post, I just had to. All you people throwing eachother possible definitions of a trojan to the head. Grow up please. Node is warning everyone that there is a backdoor in this particular map, and the fact that he prevented just one person who didn't know about it from downloading it alone prooves this thread useful.

Now get out of here and finish your homework like your mother told you to.

There is no back door. No one can access your computer with that map. The worst that can happen is they can close the server. There is a script in the map that sets the RCON to something that the maker chose every few seconds. This by itself doesn't compromise your computer in anyway. There are much worse things people can do, and they don't need to disguise them as maps to do it. Node doesn't know what he's talking about here, just leave it at that.

Honestly think. He has to be in the server to actualy do anything. It doesn't destroy anything. At worst it shuts down the server, he could just remove the map from the rotations. It doesn't give him any remote access unless he is in the server playing his map, and then only on actions that affect the server.
