When I started this thread a couple of days ago, I never expected to get up to and past 200 replies.
Although most of it was a fight between me and a couple of other people it was still fun to hear all of the answers that people gave me.
Although what I said was true, I have now realized that there is not that much potential to this thread. It is only a two answer question.
Hearing all of the theories about how he died, or how he lived have been centered around those two said answers.
Now even though my provoking and (in some areas) lack of knowledge has caused much of the ongoing fight, I still have to say that I am very sastified with it all.
If your wondering why I am posting is to give a accurate account of what happened to Jun S-266 as far as the two theories go.
In 2552, the Covenant, an alien race that the Human race has been at war with for quite some time has secretly took out Visegrad Relay Outpost. Visegrad Relay was one of the main communication outpost for ONI and UNSC operations on the colony world of Reach. Visegrad was a vital rescource for the UNSC on Reach.
The the real cause of the outpost going dark was believed to be rebel forces, not the Covenant. Colonel Urban Holland sent in a team of Elite Spartans, Noble Team, to investigate not only Visegrad's state of being offline, but also to investigate a group of missing troopers (3 Charlie 6).
Noble Team was a group of Spartan IIIs from Alpha Comapany.
UNSC and ONI find out the cause for the deactivation of Visegrad was Covenant forces via contact from Noble Team's leader Carter-Sierra 259.
Jun S-266 and Noble 6 B-312 then while doing a Recon Operation to find out why in entire area around Visegrad communication was almost uncapable of doing, find a entire Covenant invasion army on Reach's surface.
After a few days, the Fall of New Alexandria, the deaths of Jorge, and Kat (members of Noble Team), and the loss of ONI's mysterious Swordbase as well as its secret discovery of a ancient Forerunner computer the remaining members of Noble find themselves delievering Cortana to the Pillar of Autumn.
However, Carter orders Jun to escort Doctor Catherine Halsey, the creator of Cortana and the head of the research going on at Swordbase, to Castle Base.
Castle Base is a very well protected ONI base built into Menachite Mountain. Originally a titanium mine until it was close down after miners breached a Forerunner complex.
This is where the spectualtion of Jun's fate begins and as far as Halo Canon goes (as far as specifics).
It is very possible that Jun died when ever the Covenant began glassing Reach and attempted to access Castle Base. According to First Strike I believe, the SPARTANS (which may have included Jun) and ONI blew up Castle Base. Jun might have died as he escaped or in the battle short before.
On the other hand. It is very likely that some of the SPARTANS survived until the end which means that Jun might have survived as well.
This is as far as I go with this, but honestly many people including Halonation ((halo.wikia.com)which list Jun as still active after 2552) believe that it is very likely that Jun had survived the Glassing of Reach.
It is still just as likely that he didn't survive which many people believe also.
It really depends on your opinion about whether he is alive or not. Nothing canon has ever specifically said Jun is dead by 2553, or alive by 2553.
There is the possiblilty that he will make a cameo in Halo Four at some point. Then again, mabey the mystery of Jun's disappearence was one not meant to be answered.
That's all I have to say for now. I believe he is alive. DeceptionCobra and others believe he is dead, but for now I guess we will never know.
