Or it's quite possible that we just in general have better combat strategies. I know there is a part in the Halo novels where a SII gets hit by a T25 DER, but for now I can't because I don't have the books with me. Give me a few minutes. (30-120 Minutes)

You all underestimate the UNSC. Don't forget they won almost every single ground battle.

Yes, however The Cole Protocol states that Keyes shot an innie with a T25 DER, and it nearly tore him in half.

If that were so, we wouldn't have gotten have gotten as far in the war as we would have. Especially since it's stated that Marines can "hold their own" in ground engagements.

We made it as far as we did because of space battles. Note that we still lost many colonies to the covenant.

That made no sense.

What's your point? Was there a need to quote me?

The covenant (because of the integration of forerunner technology into the covenant near the beginning of its formation) posses far superior technology. We would not have stood a chance if it wasn't for the civil war that took place and the flood. Although we did have one advantage over the covenant which was our own innovation. The Covenant after relying on the forerunner technology for so long no longer possessed that innovation.

And one shot can severely damage an unshielded SII? I don't think so.

Um, I'm fairly sure a single overcharged plasma pistol round melted through the entire layer of Sam's armor, exposing skin.

ODST's being directly impacted in close range by plasma rifle would die quick.

Though a factor some people forget, plasma looses strength the farther it goes. So a semi-long range fight between Elites and entrenched marines wouldn't be as deadly as a close-range fight.

This is true
Halo FoR page127-128: "... the energy burst caught Sam in the side."..."There was a hole the size of his fist, and beneath that, the skin was blackened and cracked."

His shields were down for that matter.

And it depends on the weaponry and terrain of each situation.

ODST and marines do not have shields.

Oh, I didn't know you meant an overcharge.

Speaking of chuckles, let's all lol at IonicPaul, who makes friends with bugs to make up for his lack of human contact.

To those of you describing the single overcharge blasting through Sam's armor, you're wrong. The jackal fired multiple rounds into his side from behind the cover of its shield before John kicked it and shot it.

The book doesn't say he was hit in the side with multiple rounds after the initial overcharged shot. Those multiple rounds "knocked him to the deck". You really think a jackal under suppressive fire had the time and accuracy to place those shots in the same spot Sam was initially hit?

They are, just the UNSC is stronger. Your post had nothing to do with Covenant but rather the UNSC's T25.

The individual marines are far weaker when compared to the standard Sangheili, who have shields almost as powerful as a SpartanII.

I'm sorry, what? The T25 DER is the plasma rifle. Just because it doesn't have a marine moniker, doesn't mean it doesn't have an actual military designation, and the DER part of it should make it extremely obvious that it is a directed energy weapon.

Where did it say that it was an overcharged shot? I just remember it shooting Sam multiple times.

That sure explains why the Covenant lost almost all land battles doesn't it.
