"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

Posted by: ALPHAslayER1911
Blue Team
1. John (Average, but incredibly lucky)
2. Kelly (Fastest of the Spartans)
3. Fred (Expert in CQB)
4. Linda (Excellent sniper)
5. Spartan-II that will die later on

Noble Team
1. Carter (My best guess would just be average)
2. Kat (Tech Specialist, missing an arm)
3. Jun (Excellent sniper, but probably not as good as Linda)
4. Emile (I'd imagine he's above average in CQB)
5. Jorge (Huge. 7'4 and 320 pounds, out of armor)
6. Noble Six ("Hyper Lethal". Probably one of if not the best Spartan.)

So, in my opinion, it'd be close. Noble Team outnumbers Blue Team, but Kat seems more like a liability.

Why would she be a liability? Kat's robotic arm is described as being just as effective as a normal limb would be.

Yes, but it is effective as her left arm that is enhanced by the force multiplier circuits?

Where are peple getting Jun=Linda? Show me feats that jun can come even close to out-sniping Linda. I haven't seen any special skills on Jun's part, besides being designated as a sniper.

Well if we're comparing track records:
-Blew up Installation 04 You mean overloaded the PoA reactor's and caused it to tear itself apart.
-Defeated the Galactic super threat known as the Flood, twice You mean once. Second time goes to Cortana (see below)
-Defeated the Covenant Elites get this credit. Thel gets credit for killing Truth, and thus defeating the Covenant
-Survived Reach Chief didn't take place on the ground battle of Reach, therefore this point is null
-Killed the Gravemind Did he? See below. Cortana gets credit
-Blew up High Charity It was already heavily damaged.
-Blew up Installation 04, again He didn't even have anything to do with this. Cortana Activated Halo, it ripped itself apart.
-Did severe damage to the Ark And what does this matter? Credit goes to Cortana anyway
-Survived the Flood outbreaks With trouble. Much less impressive when a marine sergeant survived through most of the library by himself
-Has killed multiple high ranking Covenant military officers So have others.
-Has killed a high ranking prophet Only because reinforcements were denied to Regret. So in a sense, Truth gets some credit.
-Has jumped from a Forerunner ship re-entering atmosphere, and lived. And got KOed and was thought to be dead. Not really a thing to boast about.
-Has a considerably high amount of combat experience against humans, aliens, parasites, and killer insane AI. And...? "Killer insane AI" Haha. He hardly went toe to toe with 343(directly). I don't see how that one came around. Regardless, this one doesn't truly count if we are going off them at time of Battle of Reach eh?

And that's just John.

Note bolded replies.

-That's technically blowing up I-04, with a creative twist.

-He survived all the onslaughts of oncoming Flood where millions of human and Covenant alike could not. Also, see below.

-Chief killed Regret, who was in command of the entire fleet that came to Earth to kill everything in the sector if needed.

-Not true, the Orbital Mission was considered to be much more difficult and of higher importance. Kelly and Fred both tried to volunteer so they could get John's respect for picking the higher risk.

-Don't forget he pretty much did it alone.

-And how else would Cortana have done that, if Chief wasn't there to get her there?

-See above.

-If I recall correctly, that was Nolan Byrne. Sergeant Johnson's old parter back then they were experimental Spartan I's. He was a tough mother-blam!-, just like Johnson. Just bigger, much stronger, even a bit quicker. Give him augmentations and a MJOLNIR suit and he probably would've been at the top of the Spartan class.

-Nonetheless, he still did.

-Don't forget they tried to -blam!- GLASS him right afterwards. He dove into the ocean that HELD the GRAVEMIND and made it out safe. He also found the location of the Sacred Icon.

-Are you kidding??? You try jumping from several kilometers up high, using only a sheet of metal to block the heat and live, then only get KO'd and say "it was nothing." That's quite an achievement.

-That AI killed Sergeant Johnson and nearly wiped out all sentient life in the Galaxy. That guy was dangerous. He pretty much went toe-to-toe with him, considering the BLASTED HIS FACE WITH A SPARTAN LASER AFTER BEING HIT BY 343's MELTING FACE LASER AND SHRUGGING IT OFF. And I don't recall reading anywhere that this battle is meeting at the time of the Fall of Reach. Kind of like how they bring people back from different timelines in Deadliest Warrior (horrible show BTW). This is a scenario, where they both meet at a place away from where they fought.

Not to mention, he gave the Covenant back their own bomb.

Noble team all died (except near sighted Jun) in the same invasion.

If MC couldn't take them all out independently, then with maybe 1 or 2 other Spartan II's, no contest. Noble team would even know what hit them, unless of course the all habitually armor lock.... but that would only delay the inevitable.

Dr.Halsey a bltch

  • 09.13.2011 9:00 AM PDT

i wouldn't call MC average -.-
he can snipe just as well as jun has better skills in leading a team than carter and so on and so on

blue team wins easily also because in noble team there is only one SPARTAN-II being jorge who is in fact a pretty good fighter but blue team has FIVE SPARTAN-II's who all have more expensive armor and better training than the cheaper SPARTAN-III's

Someone please show me how Jun is even close to being as good of a sniper as Linda! NOWHERE has Jun shown any skillfull sniping feats, NOWHERE. The only way you can even tell he is a sniper is that he is designated as one.

If you guys post the one thing I think you will, you will only solidify my contempt for the Bungie.net forums by proving my long held theory, but I'll hold off on that for now.

*sigh*

Sounds like people are using ingame player feats (sniping as well as Jun) and ingame AI to state how good characters are.

I'm not using in-game Jun. But people are saying Jun=Linda and Jun>Linda, yet they have not shown any feats for Jun that would prove that. You can't just say because Jun is a S-III sniper he suddenly rivals Linda without backing it up.

Perhaps not, but by the same token you can't say he absolutely sucks can you?

If we take Halsey's comments on them as semi-canon facts, he is a highly skilled sniper.

But if we take what we ACTUALLY know by reading Linda's skill in the books in comparison to what a single person states in a game trailer then we can conclude that as far as we're aware Linda is a better sniper.

Also Halsey has been dismissed as s source of canon in skill in the past by you I think? (in regards to John) so why is now any different? It's not like she is reading out Jun's file. I doubt it says "As a sniper his skills are un-matched" in his file.

I never said he wasn't skilled. What I'm saying is he is nowhere near Linda.

Multiple Headshots on banshee pilots at long range while holding the Sniper rifle with one hand, swinging from a rope, and with massive damage to her body.

Now show me Jun doing something even relatively close to that in terms of skill.

A: She had no massive damage from that point. Linda was healed by that point. Also, it was no headshots, she got kill shots on them.

"Nowhere near Linda." to me, implies unskilled for a Spartan.

A: I don't think she was fully healed. She had suffered heavy trauma and was just starting to recouperate when they launched the mission. and sorry, Killshots.

How does that imply unskilled for a SPARTAN? Linda is a S-II sniper, and has been said to be the best sniper out of the entire S-II project. No other S-II has shown that skill with a sniper rifle. Hell, all S-IIs and IIIs are probably better snipers than any regular human.

Examples are completely irrelevant when it's stated by a character, especially if that character was the "mother" of Linda, so to say.
Just saying, if Halsey knows Linda that well, but not Jun all that well, and she says his sniping skills are unmatched, you're obligated to believe it.
Examples are completely irrelevant.

Outmached in context to what? Regular humans? Covenant? SPARTAN-IIs? SPARTAN-IIIs? Everything in the known universe?

There is a thing called hyperbole, which is what I chalk that statement up to be.
