It seems that they care deeply for the canon.
You say that while supporting them getting rid of the Encyclopedia, a piece of canon.
It's disposable and nobody cares for the thing. Get over it.
Oh yeah, stop crying about it. Get over it.
Seems that Encyclopedia is not disposable and certainly part of the canon. If 343i cares about the canon, they wouldn't have to throw the Encyclopedia away.
If the third edition of Encyclopedia still states MC is still missing by 2600s, then my point stands at Halo 4 thread.
I haven't read the Encyclopedia so I can't say this with any degree of certainty, but is it not more a general collection of all information on Halo, not all of which is necessarily canon? What I mean by not necessarily canon is that it keeps things as a record whether they're official canon or not, like some of the marketing materials for instance? Anyways I wouldn't put so much stock in information based from marketing materials we know aren't really entirely accurate like Believe.
And besides, several people have mentioned (people who argue the same thing as you I might add) that the date(s) you are always listing as proof that the UNSC can't have any involvement in the Reclaimer Trilogy isn't even directly stated and you have to come up with that date yourself.
Another thing, just because the Encyclopedia says that does not mean that he does not make contact with the UNSC in the Reclaimer Trilogy, how do you know that he doesn't go missing again, or that higher ups in the UNSC and ONI know what happens to him but can't or won't reveal it to the public so he is classified as MIA at the end of or at some point after making contact with the UNSC?
