I must say that hearing One Final Effort as I came over the snowy hill in my Scorpion on The Covenant was easily the best moment of the entire series.

Engaged in Halo: Reach was also pretty amazing the first time.

Hey, now!

This is officially either the greatest or worst thing to ever happen to Star Wars. I'm going with the former.

That was an amazing moment. The song that plays during The Storm, while you are rushing the AA cannon with the Marines and Traxus workers was awesome as well.

All of them but Halo Wars, I don't like to count that piece of garbage. Halo CE and Halo 3 are definitely my top 2 though.

"Apparently people don't like the truth, but I do like it; I like it because it upsets a lot of people. If you show them enough times that their arguments are bull-blam!-, then maybe just once, one of them will say, 'Oh! Wait a minute I was wrong.' I live for that happening. Yes, I'm the guy who had the Flood admit to being furries.

Halo 2 had the strongest soundtrack, ODST had the most varied and emotional soundtrack, Halo 1 had the classic soundtrack.

Halo 3 were just redux's of older material and ambient music, which was all good but not classic. Halo Reach had some original compositions that were great but it really did not feel like "Halo".

Oh, and Halo Wars soundtrack was generic. I didn't like anything about that game. The music was either poor remixes of some of the songs with the holy choir thing thrown in and some uninspired pieces.

It all comes down to this, they were all good in their own way...except Halo Wars. It wasn't by Marty, therefore there was no true understanding of how the music should be like. Marty had the idea, Stephen Rippy did not, he makes music for Age of Empires and stuff, not Halo.

Haters are going to hate.
Praisers are going to praise.

The Bungie Forums are what keeps my mind sharp and my fingers active, between writing my own movie scripts, drawing, and studying industrial design. At the moment I'm working on miniatures for a short movie that I'll hopefully be able to film once I've saved up for a camera... That's me, with the mug, trying to have a conversation with Konoko.

I pretty much agree, but saying that H3 is mostly confined to remixes is rather unfair. It bring a lot of new soundscapes to the table, the whole Shadow of Intent theme for instance. But yeah, it's not nearly as diverse as H2.

Speaking of recycling, something I really do like is that Marty often takes tracks from his/Bungies previous titles, like the track -don't remember the name- from Oni which ended up in H:CE.

Hope we'll se some Halo tracks in whatever Bungie's forging now, if MS is willing to look over the shoulder...

HALO 3 ALL DAY AND WHEN THE ZEALOT ATTACKED NOBLE TEAM IN W.C.

  • 09.06.2011 1:01 PM PDT

I personally think Halo 3 had the best music. I've never been one to get into game soundtracks or actually buy songs from games separately, but there are a lot of songs from Halo 3 that I have honestly considered buying on iTunes or whatever. I didn't, because that means less Led Zeppelin, but still lol. Halo 3 had my favorite musical score, and ODST is probably a close second. ODST's music didn't really feel very Halo-y, but I think it really captured the feel of the ODSTs and New Mombasa. Marty was a genius with that score. It completely perfected the atmosphere of the entire game.

On a side note, Reach didn't seem like Halo to me music-wise. I liked all of the music, and the tracks were really epic, it just didn't seem like Halo music.

  • 09.06.2011 2:05 PM PDT

Technically it's not apart of the game, but the Halo 3 announcement trailer music gives me goosebumps still. That was a theme replicated throughout Halo 3 and I think it was Marty's strongest work.

ODST.

CE was great, 2 was great, 3 was meh and felt forced, Reach was good, ODST was AWESOME.

Wars was meh.

I enjoyed Halo 2 soundtrack quite a lot.

Halo 3 had an interesting soundtrack, but not as good as the previous game.

The only positive thing of Halo 3: ODST was the soundtrack... but yeah, still, Halo 2 soundtrack.

Agree to this:)

Halo 2, followed by ODST in my opinion. Then 3, CE, and Reach.

Wars was... different.
