I still feel that Emile should have heard that elite or something

Hm, maybe. depends how loud of a thunk it'd make when it hit the mass driver. and how the control booth muffles it.

That's different then saying it'd show up on motion tracker(or he ignored it) so I'll give you that :).

And whether he would have heard it over the other Zealot landing right in front of him too.

Although the game was a MASSIVE let down in terms of how it did not show Reach at full scale war, there was one going on even if we did not see it.

You could have put 5,000 spartans of any kind on the surface, it wouldn't have stopped that planet from being glassed and all UNSC assets destroyed. The kind of battles that went on, and what we SHOULD have seen but didn't, would have been between hundreds of thousands of soldiers on each side slaughtering each other. Hundreds of tanks, falcons, pelicans warring banshees, spirits and phantoms.

Considering the size of the invasion force, the spartans would be utterly useless in a wide scale battle. Sure, they would rack up massive kill numbers, but against that many troops, it wouldn't last long.

Spartans were created for the singular purpose of being a small, specialised team that can infiltrate the enemy. They were trained and built up to be stealthy and lethal. The reason for this is even a Spartan won't make a huge difference in an all out war on the battlefield. The hundreds of thousands of soldiers who would have died would have been the ones protecting the colonies from ground invasions, not the Spartans. They were off INFILTRATING and nuking covvie fleets.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

:)
The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Most people here seem to hate Noble Team for no fair reason, with no valid arguments.

It wasent Noble Teams job to defend Reach and make sure it did not fall. Reach did not depend 100% on Noble Team.

I love Noble Team and I'm not retarded enough to think that they would be the same in real life as they are in gameplay.

The covenant knew what reach held: a forerunner artifact that might have held the location to their ultimate dream: a halo ring. That's what the covenant scouting party was looking for when they attacked sword base. They found it was true, so they sent the largest fleet ever (up to that point) to decimate the planet.

Reach is also a last line of defense before earth. There was no running from that battle, it was either win or face the extinction of humanity at that point.

Luckily Halsey caught on to what the covenant were up to in time (and also deduced that the forerunner artifact the covenant were looking for was actually left there for us - her brilliance never ceases to amaze) and sent us on our way to halo before (or at least simultaneously) to the covenant. She provided us with an alternative to extinction.

Point being, noble team alone was certainly not responsible for the planet, all of humanity was, but the covenant were also on the climax of their road to the great journey, and their force was massive on a scale humanity had never seen as a result.

Title for reference.

Honestly I've seen this argument presented against Noble Team numerous times, yet it's one that is completely unfair and redundant. It can be defeated in two points.

1. That "single planet" was Reach. Noble Team couldn't save it because it was destined to fall, if you are a Halo fan that is Canon 101.

2. Noble Team couldn't save Reach, yet neither could the 30+ Spartan-IIs who went to Reach. So does that mean Spartan-IIs are now terrible despite failing to protect Reach?

So, can someone tell me why that argument is valid? Even if you despise Noble Team with a unholy passion not seen since Sonic fanboys raged over his new voice actor, you have to admit that argument is crap.

Dont touch the Spartan II's They went there to defend a power station not to defend reach...if you have read fall of reach you should know better...
Also Most of the Spartan II's survived to fight another day.

Defending the power generator defended Reach.

Also... if your version of most equals maybe 5 from 25ish...

I heard the spartans most of them survived...idc.
However it was keys fault ! he deserves what happend with him...
He send 31 spartans to death ...
They are more valuable than reach itself...
Because of him the war lasted much more longer...and a ancient infection was discovered.

Well, this is one of the most ridiculous posts ive seen in a while.
Most of the Spartan 2's are dead, barring john and the couple inside Onyx. Im not too sure about the specifics but i know alot died.
He didn't send them to their deaths, he sent them to protect a vital asset on Reach, an asset may i remind you that powered the Super MAC's in orbit stopping the huge fleet from glassing the crap out of Reach before anyone had a chance to mount any kind of defense. What good would the spartans have been stuck onboard a ship? Zero. He put them to good use.

Also, those Spartans were not more valuable than Reach. Are you medically insane? Humanities military HUB, armed to the teeth with ships, super mac's, hundreds of thousands if not millions of troops and military vehicles like tanks, falcons...you name it.

The war would have been over if he didn't go to halo...because humanity, along with every other sentient life form would be killed.

smart, interesting, seems out of place.

Official fan of Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, (Problem with that?) Halo, and Bungie, also a total gaming junkie.

No I'm pretty sure that would result in a bloody remake of Thermopylae, but with survivors.

Their goal wasn't to protect reach. Reach, despite being the spartan home and greatest military defense, was a decoy to buy earth some time. their goal was also to deliver cortana and kill and weaken the covenants defences as much as possible.

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

And yet Red Flag never began.
