Subject: Issues With Gears of War 3 Threads

Alright, so whenever I tend to make a Gears of War 3 related thread on the Flood, I always get that one prick who spoils the ending of the game.

Aren't moderators supposed to be banning these people for spoiling the ending of games? Not just Bungie games, but any games.

I'm getting sick of it, and it's not even from just regular "Member" titles. It's generally from special titled members who are doing this. Why the hell should they go unpunished for constantly trying to ruin the campaign of a game for people?

Do you explicitly state that you do not want users to post said spoilers?

SPARTANS! WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSION?!

AOOH, AOOH, AOOH!

Unfortunately the best way to avoid it is to avoid Gears threads. It's coming out in a few weeks, so it shouldn't be too challenging to avert thine eyes for that long. The mods have a tough time because of the nature of the new accounts. Unless they're actively looking for them/having the accounts reported, they will be unable to do anything.

Reverse psychology takes place.

Then somebody will intentionally go out of their way to ruin it. Hurp durp.

Either way, you don't spoil the ending of games. It's a dick move.

My guess is that it doesn't get reported enough. The game's really not far off from launch and it's already been leaked once, I'd just stop trying to talk about it.

So you don't then?

I've taken the liberty of numbering your paragraphs so I can respond to them easier.

1. I think that here, is probably a much more appropriate place to discuss Gears anyway...

2. There is in fact a rule against spoilers in the Forum Rules, but mods are not omnipresent. Things get missed. All the time. There are only 31 of them and thousands of us.

3. Titles have no relevancy to anything at all. They are for fun. Just because its a member with a "special title" doesn't mean the punitive damage should be inflicted any quicker or with a greater severity than a regular member.

And, as stated, they aren't "allowed" to get away with it simply because of a title. They are "allowed" to get away with it because a Ninja obviously just doesn't see it.

There's a rule in the "Forum Rules" sticky that makes this action against the rules so he doesn't need to ask them not to.

You know, if I wanted to be the biggest dick right now I'd tell you that you're incorrectly forum copping me. I've been banned before for that once on a different account.

This is the Bungie community, the Flood is part of the community. I make threads in the flood, ERGO... This belongs here.

Then there are the people who poop in the mash potatoes. Those people get launched out on their asses.

Is it against the rules? Yes.

Are we going to catch it every time? No.

Your best bet is to stay away from any internet forum shortly after release to avoid spoilers.

Apparently it isn't effective.

You misunderstand good sir. I said that discussion of Gears of War as a game would probably be better suited for the Epic forums, where they will more likely have a MUCH stricter policy on spoilers of games than The Flood does. This particular discussion DOES belong in the Community forum as it concerns BNet as a website. I should have made that clearer. My apologies.

Flood = Off Topic

It is just as suited there as it is here.

  • 09.04.2011 7:29 PM PDT

I'll be on my own side.

This. Before Reach came out, I stayed away from the forums for months. Generally, the Flood is where you'll find most spoilers, but if the game is a huge release, you might find that one idiot who posts spoilers in thread titles in multiple forums. Avoid forums and game-related news sites.

"We live in a special time; the only time where we can observationally verify that we live in a very special time" - Lawrence Krauss.

I was a finalist :P

For one week before and one week after the release of GOW 3 I won't be coming to this site. I hate people who create spoiler threads without saying 'spoiler' in the title as well as people who put the spoiler in the thread title.

I once heard an old man say " Years ago, i sold my trumpet for something to eat, and know i know it would be better to die of hunger."

I upload a ton of Halo clips on my YouTube channel, feel free to subscribe.

Well at least now I know never to go to the Flood Forums! Thanks for that.
