I just finished the level on Legendary, and some of the Marines survived until the end.

Just wondering what happened to them?

I think they get picked up by a pelican, I'm not so sure.

They got picked up by the Pelican that spotted the Sentinel.

And then later died anyway when John blew up the ring.

I always thought they were supposed to die so presumably, nothing. But if they survived then yeah, a pelican or something rescued them. I imagine it's up to us to decide :)

See you on the battlefield.

E419 was on station to extract the Chief, and presumably any remnants of the marine force in the area.

BOB-B-Q!
If only they brought back Marathon and Pathways into Darkness...

I can't stand that level, still have not passed it.

They were picked up by Echo 419, if you got any to survive anyway. Chief and the marines climbed up the tower and then Spark teleported Chief to the Library.

Thus he came alone to Angband's gates, and he sounded his horn, and smote once more upon the brazen doors, and challenged Morgoth to come forth in single combat. And Morgoth came.

My marines never make it that far...at least when I play Heroic.

"There is no time for peace. No respite. No forgiveness. There is only WAR!"

they all made it back to the marine "hq" kinda of, and when they realized that chief was going to destroy the ring. they made a last ditch effort to hijack the truth and reconciliation (at the end of the book "the flood) which they managed to do so, but in the end the effort was for not, as it did not say if they made it out of the blast zone or not. And it stated that there was a single infection form flood, hiding away on the ship.

so either theyre all dead. they drifted in space with to much damage to move the ship. they all got infected by flood. or they made it out and there had yet to be any sign or acknowledgement of their continued existence in the halo universe.

I thought Mckay blew up the ship at the end to stop Silva from taking a Flood Infected cruiser back to Earth.

That's essentially what she did. The guy above doesn't have it right, not entirely at least. The ship was destroyed because McKay destroyed the cable linking the engines (I believe) with the bridge of the ship, so it lost control and fell back down to the surface of Halo. I don't know if it was the engines that the cable was linked to, however I do know that it connected to the bridge and they crashed and blew up because they lost control of the ship.

Just some clafication, McKay gave Flood-Jenkins a granade and set him loose, which destroyed the cable causeing the ship to crash. But essentially McKay was responsable for the ship crashing

Jesus loves you! But I think you're a -blam!-

Ah Halo CE. The only Halo game where I actually cared about the Marines.
