Subject: Report Button Idea

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

So an idea popped into my head while discussing collapsing posts that have "been reported for violating the code of conduct" in this thread.

I don't know.

The collapsing is nice for those half-page long meatspin links.
True, I didn't think about those...

Perhaps this: options! Click "Report" and then a list of options is presented to you. You click which fits the description of the post you are reporting and boom! Done. If the post reaches, say, 15 reports of being "Deliberately Wall Spamming" (or something of those lines), then it gets collapsed? Or if it received 15 reports of "Explicit Material", then it immediately gets hidden from members, only visible to moderators and above?

I would like to see 7-8 possible options to choose from, much like the process of reporting a player on Xbox Live.

Thought?

Stop banning me please.

That would be a cool idea.

I still think we need a mod counter and an active forum user counter.

What are we supposed to be discussing here?

"Nothing in the 'Verse can stop me."

I still wish he had an ignore button or maybe our own hide button for post not collapsed due to reporting.

Put it in a dropdown menu:
"hide this post"
"ignore user"
"etc."

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

It's hard enough to encourage people to click once. If we turn it into a dialog, far fewer people will use it.

Or would it encourage to click once if it were more... well interesting? ;)

And how come you are able to report yourself? That is pretty stupid. I just now discovered you can do that.

I have posed the idea/suggestion that people clicking on the "report" button get a shower of confetti and the sound of young children shouting "Yay!".

I am not sure I understand which you are saying is stupid.

Is it stupid that it is there?

Or would it be stupid for someone to report themselves?

I kind of see it as a self-administered IQ test where there is only one way to pass and one way to fail.

Kill't my idea.

It would, personally, pique a bit more thought when I came across a report-worthy post.
