Has anyone else noticed that there's been an increase in Spanish language posts recently.

I know it's not the point of this thread, but this 'rule' is pathetic. If the community wanted to cater to all Bungie fans, they would understand not all of them speak English as a native language. There are enough users here who either speak Spanish or are not afraid to use Google translate that a language barrier would never exist.

And please, don't spout that "it would encourage spam" nonsense back at me. As I pointed out above, enough active users understand Spanish that reporting foreign-language spam would be a non-issue. Demanding an all English forum for a company that has fans the world over is simply short-sighted and non-inclusive.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

Actually forum etiquette is that you post in the native language of the forum. Not only is it a nice thing to do but it may get your questions answered in a more timely manner.

Hello, I'm Mr AwesomePizza. I like pizza and I'm a man. Reasoning for the name. I like to listen to the classics of music, write poetry, play video games, and much much more. I'm always down for a nice chat, so please hit me up for some conversation.

I've been fighting for the right of users to speak in another language on here, but I keep getting shot down.

Whether I agree with the rule or not is a non-issue. Bungie has decided that the language of their forums is going to be English, thus it is so. And if users are not afraid to use google translate, one could, in theory, say that any solely Spanish speaking users could use said program to translate to English, although it would probably be evident.

TL:DR
We have no rights, play nice.

Yeah. How dare he not be able to read the rules that are in English. And how rude of him to not know how to speak in another language. And even if he did speak in english, it would be filtered through Google Translate, thus making it bad english. This is also not allowed. Its a vicious cycle that could just be fixed by allowing spanish speaking users to speak in spanish.

If anything were to happen, I would suggest it being a separate foreign language forum or else many users (the majority of which speak or understand only English) would simply be confused and left out of conversations. Even those who speak and understand very rough Spanish (like myself) find it difficult to decipher the poor grammar and spelling that accompanies many internet posts of any language.

A new forum would solve many of these problems and would allow for a larger fan base although Bungie will inevitably do whatever they want.

Then the question is this. Why would you go to a website that is in a language that you possibly do not know and make a post in a your own language that most of the members on there do not understand?

Because they like Bungie as a company and enjoy their games and there is no such website as bungieespanol.net that I know of. There is no alternative. And what's the harm in them? There's always someone with high school level spanish skills and access to http://spanishdict.com who can come up with an appropriately helpful response.

English please.
Just a note. Posts like this are incredibly unhelpful. The OP obviously doesn't speak English as a primary language and so cannot understand your pointless post telling them to post in English. You could argue that they could just translate that into Spanish in Google Translate, but the same is true for you and the OP.

The problem with google translate is that the OP must be using exemplary spelling and grammar, as well as fairly simple word choice in order for it to be properly translated. Neither of these things tend to happen in English or Spanish.

Exactly. And grammatically poor posts are lock/ban worthy as well. Either way the current system has several flaws, and the fact that it is the way it is because the web team doesn't think we can learn to deal with some people who happen to speak spanish, or any other language for that matter, is, quite frankly, a little ridiculous in my opinion.

Obviously that's what the -blam!-ing rules say. We're arguing about the possibility of changing the rule. I don't need to blindly accept the fact that the rule is there. Debates shouldn't be null and void simply because there are rules that disallows the subject matter of the debate being allowed.

And its not insanely out of the ballpark to believe something like a debate of sorts on the forums. It's a completely civilized one.
