The best old-school game is a gem called Bubble Bobble for the original NES. The co-op multiplayer was, quite possibly, the most addicting ever (maybe even beating out Halo's). It was tough, yet simplistic and accessible. And the multiplayer ruled all!

Out of the choices given, I have to vote for Super Smash Bros. Goldeneye, Sonic, and Super Mario were good, but Smash Bros. is what I remember having the most fun playing. Given another choice out of games off the list, I'd have to say Marathon because even though it is an old Mac game, it still kicks ass.

Tank Wars... I made a version of that, once. Simple, but one hell of an addictive game. I kinda spoilt the one I made by adding Super Nukes, though...

I voted Sonic, although I was torn between that and Super Mario Bros. I have fond memories with both of them, especially the Sonic series. In the UK, Sonic was huge. I remember the huge hype that went into Sonic Twosday in 1992. The level of excitement was kind of similar to that of another well known sequel soon to be released... it was great. Speeding around loops and flying around the 3D special stages was incredible.

The only Mario games I had were the first and Super Mario World. Both of them were incredible, and Super Mario World has to be one of the most played games ever in my collection.

F-Zero should have been in there, though, along with Super Mario Kart. Both of them are great games, and Super Mario Kart on the SNES is still hilarious, especially when drunk...
