Well, if Skiptrace knows what this means then... perhaps it has something to do with his/her role.

I don't want to be assuming anything, but I think that Skiptrace is a Bungie employee. If TGP said that close to 25% of HFCS are Bungie employees, and there are 19 members in the group, that would mean that 5 of them work for Bungie. We know that four of them are: Achronos, Ninja 0n Fire, Shishka, and SketchFactor, so who is the fifth? I'm fairly sure that all the others are "just" moderators and the only other one we don't know is Skiptrace. That would put him/her in the "Bungie employee" category.

Or maybe I'm just reading into this WAY too far.

Usually we don't assume someone is a Bungie employee, but we do get curious when a person we have never heard of and does not have any special avatar (or even a different status) seems to be hanging out with the Bungie employees and ninjas.

Have you ever seen this guy before? Mods tend to be chosen for Bungie.net experience and activity (along with several other things). It seems odd that a brand new member who has never shown his face to us would suddenly become a Master Forum Ninja.

Perhaps he was a member that was chosen to be a mod, but decided to use a different account? I think we are getting way to concerned over this. I'm sure we will see him around eventually.

Keep asking.... we still have plenty of places left to hide bodies.

Maybe so, but we're running out of sawdust for the cleanup afterwards.

Now there's a mystery. How does Bungie plan on taking over the world when it keeps killing off its only loyal followers?

And the ones who are demanding Halo 3 are loyal? Then...I guess Bungie doesn't have any loyal fans (with the exception of the moderators, but they are trained).

Obviously you are not familiar with Stalinist Russia.
You must kill off the loyal followers to keep everyone in check. Its the most efficient way of maintaining totalitarian rule. Soon they will form their own version of the NKVD and you will be kidnapped in your sleep, forced to admit your traitorous acts, then shot and buried in the woods.

That might be a valid explanation, except how many people go from "Member" to "Master Forum Ninja" without being a regular Ninja first?

For now I'd say that the best explanation is Goweb's.

  • 04.03.2006 6:42 PM PDT

I'll provide my theory. I think that's an alter-ego of Kuniklo specifically for moderating. From what I've seen Kuniklo is focused more on community support rather than policing the forums; I think he wanted to have a part in the moderation using this new account. Also, I find it a little odd that there is only one moderator being chosen around the time of Kuniklo's appearance. If it were merely a moderator looking for a name change then I'm sure it would have been noted that this was the case upon creation (not to mention the two likely candidates for this are not master moderators, to boot). Instead, much like Kuniklo, this new member is shrouded in mystery until some later date.

Barring this, I suppose it could be another prominent member of the community (I'll use Louis Wu as an example) that Bungie was felt could bypass the regular moderator level with ease (as Shishka did). Clearly they're a big fish, so I'm guessing one of the HBO admins. I doubt it could be a employee of Bungie other than Kuniklo since most Bungie employees don't moderate the forums themselves, but instead provide information to the site or just hang around. Prime examples are Tinman and Sketch, both work at Bungie but don't have "master moderator" privileges per say, instead choosing to provide the site with other info.

So, I'd say, at least in my own mind, it's narrowed down to either a HBO admin or other high level member of HBO, or Kuniklo himself. The latter only because what I've seen in his personality, and his inferred form community involvement; I doubt it's any other Bungie employee.
