Subject: Was ODST a good concept for a game?

We aren't here to ruin your experience (Well Qbix is).

I enjoyed ODST very much. Firefight was something new and refreshing. It was kind of a downer that it didn't have any MP. Nonetheless it was a very good game.

I dug it. It was different. Nothing like creeping around a city at night trying to stay alive. It was alway pretty cool with four players also.

You Shall Not Pass!!!

Yep. It was a great game. A completely unique experience in the Halo series. My only complaint is that the whole "love story" thing between Buck and Dare seemed a little forced, under developed. The campaign was great, and Firefight was a cool new mode. The game has it's own atmosphere completely. Very well done.

What's up with all the -blam!-ing negativity?

ODST was just awesome. I think that about sums it up.

I know exactly what you mean. Out of all the people in my "group of friends" (which is around 10 or so), only 1 of them actually enjoyed the ODST campaign (along with me of course). We both got the same feeling when exploring the dark, immense New Mombasa at night. We both felt connected to the Rookie and the whole story with the ODST squadron.

In my opinion, and my friend's opinion, ODST was one of our favorite Halo campaigns out of all of them. And in all honesty, I would definitely like to see another shooter by Bungie having that same conceptual mysteriousness like ODST did. I will miss that game.

You imply a level of control over Halo: Reach matchmaking that we no longer have. Or, in your vernacular, it isn't our shiznit anymore.

It was purely a money making exercise from M$.

No it wasn't. It was a side project that was originally supposed to be Halo 3 DLC with then later was supposed to be a stand alone game with a $40 price tag. Mircosoft bumped the sale price to a full game without Bungie being able to do anything about it.

Bungie wanted to make it but in the end it just ended up getting milked for money. Nothing they could do about it.

Also lots of gameplay mechanics in were tested in ODST that were implemented in Reach; slower character, fall damage, stronger pistol, no dual wielding, health bar (can argue Halo: CE), compass on top of the HUD, squad instead of super soldier, grenade mechanics, etc. Also I love ODST because they took the same fast paced Halo 3 engine and put it into a story and setting that was slow and had a dark, ambient atmosphere.

At the time I wasn't connected to Xbox Live when I purchased ODST and since it had ALL the DLC for Halo 3 it was worth $60 in my mind. All the hardcore Halo fans probably had all those maps purchased anyways though.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

ODST is tied for my favorite Halo game. Yes.

I loved ODST because Bingie attempted to make a stealth game. Too bad whenever you shoot from a hiding place the brutes magically lock on to your facial region and unload on you.

Still an amazing game.
