I haven't seen any 911 threads on Bungie.net, but from what I've experienced on other site's they definitely should be prohibited. I don't get why 911 is funny to some people.

I would guess because the 9/11 tragedy just makes Bungie fell sorrow in their hearts so they let us talk about it on the forums, but when it being in the community section it shouldn't, it should be reserved for Off Topic: The Flood.

  • 09.06.2011 5:30 AM PDT

Was it you that made a thread about this not too long ago?

  • 09.06.2011 5:41 AM PDT

"I Prefer Warm Halo, Sauted in Awesomesauce"

As long as it doesn't get out of hand, i don't see why we can't have that in the flood.

“Oh, it’s a little bit of everything, it’s the mountains, it’s the fog, it’s the news at six o’clock, it’s the death of my first dog, it’s the angels up above me, it’s the song that they don’t sing, It’s a little bit of everything.”
- Dawes, A little bit of everything

I don't think that the threads themselves should be banned, just the -blam!-s that -blam!- in them should.

EDIT: I just saw a thread in The Flood about 9/11 that made me very angry. Ban people who joke about it.

Not once have I seen a 9/11 thread not spiral into a -blam!- -blam!--storm. All 9/11 threads should be locked and any innapropriate comments should be given a 3-day ass kicking.

Hey dude I was just talking about the good things, like that one post where were you on 9/11 in the Flood section.

New Flood

I put it to you that since it's nearly the 10 year anniversary of 9/11 and every other show on TV is related to it we're going to see a lot of topics about it. Man up and ignore them.

Don't let it get to you. Do you really think the people who make fun of 9/11 are doing so because they genuinely thought it was a comedic event? Getting butthurt over insults means that you're giving the troll exactly what he's looking for.

9/11 threads have their place in the Flood.

On a related note, ******'s mom has really nice boobs, and it doesn't take much booze or encouragement to get her to let the puppies out of the pen...if you know what I mean...

I think that they should be prohibited. I've only seen one non-joke 9-11 thread and even that had responses like "lolamerica"

To an extent, i agree with this.

It will be all over the news on the anniversary, there is no getting away from it. Everyone will be discussing it in the flood, no doubt. Report inappropriate comments or just stay away from those topics altogether on the day.

Things like this need to be allowed to be discussed.

"We live in a special time; the only time where we can observationally verify that we live in a very special time" - Lawrence Krauss.

I was a finalist :P

The reason it is allowed is because it can invoke discussion- the problem is the thread morphs into nothing but hate, abuse, and flaming.

There is nothing wrong with the creation of 9/11 threads (with some exceptions, but that is with any thread topic which is allowed- eg: evolution, World War 1, World War 2, ect), the problem is the people who ruin post statements which trigger flamings and hate.

So being offended by people making fun of an event that killed 3,000 people is overly sensitive now?

It's so easy to blame "oversensitivity" on things. It's impossible to actually back that up, though.

If you vocalize the offense then yes.

I can understand the desire to discuss it what with the fact it was ten years ago this week, but anyone picking fun is doing so in bad taste. Many things are acceptable to joke about down the line, but this is certainly not something to joke about. I still feel ill watching the programmes on television with footage from the ground. I was 8 when it happened.

It's been a decade. Yes, it was a tragedy, I acknowledge that, but so much has happened since then. Joking about it shows a lack of class and tact, but barring personal losses on that day, get past it. Ignore 9/11 threads, and the trolls'll get bored and leave.

"I will show you how a true Prussian officer fights!"

"And i will show you where the iron crosses grow..."

I agree with you OP. People on here aren't mature enough on here to discuss it without being ignorant.
