Subject: 9/11 Threads...

So being offended by people making fun of an event that killed 3,000 people is overly sensitive now?
If you vocalize the offense then yes.

Why should someone else not "vocalize" their feelings? How exactly is it overly sensitive?

Many people lost close friends and family members. Many people are still suffering because of 9/11.

Why is it that "oversensitivity" always comes up when someone is offended, rather than a discussion of what is offensive? Why do people simply try to crush discussion, instead of engaging in it?

Are you simply lazy? Do you not want to discuss it?

Did you know that 93% of all statistics on the internet are made up on the spot, and that 68% of readers believe them?

This is a touchy subject for mostly everyone. It is often viewed as being simply too tragic to joke about and make fun of or even just speak of in a disrespectful manner...and rightly so.

However, there are always those out there who are perfectly entitled to their own opinions, which adhere to the notion that it was an inside job, and throw the tragedy of it all out the window, when compared to the consipiracy aspect of it.

That is just a much more provacative concept. Thus, you have immature and ignorant trolls out there who would be trolling anything else anyways, having a field day with this sort of topic.

In my opinion...just ignore them and move on.

Whoo.

It's closing in on the "Ten year anniversary" of the event, it's to be expected.
People should be able to talk about it, it's a event, just because it's a tender subject doesn't mean I shouldn't be allowed to talk about it. Should I not be allowed to discuss Portal 2 because it calls the player a "Fatty" at some point and it may stir up negative emotions in some users?

I mean it's certainly not the same but if you prohibit discussion of something people could take offence to or have horrible memories over then you have to prohibit discussion of about pretty much everything.

Also, it's the flood, that place is a cesspool.

The reason it is allowed is because it can invoke discussion- the problem is the thread morphs into nothing but hate, abuse, and flaming.

There is nothing wrong with the creation of 9/11 threads (with some exceptions, but that is with any thread topic which is allowed- eg: evolution, World War 1, World War 2, ect), the problem is the people who ruin post statements which trigger flamings and hate.
To sum it up: Stupid people are stupid.

I haven't seen any 911 threads on Bungie.net, but from what I've experienced on other site's they definitely should be prohibited. I don't get why 911 is funny to some people.

Because they weren't there and they think it is funny to rile people up about it.

I kill them with fire.

"You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space." -Johnny Cash

I think that the 9/11 threads should be allowed, but carefully moderated.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

I'm not even going to go on the Flood when it's 9/11. Considering I want to join the U.S. Military...too many people are going to piss me off. But, I'm not surprised the mods let it go. They're mostly dumbasses. I've seen them post in threads that should be locked.
