Subject: A community worth staying in?

Bip Bap Bam in the brainpan!

Idk about the community. Everyone says its great and all, but when ever i go on the reach forum, odst forum, or any other forum, i encounter more trolls than actually positive people. It serves as a further example of the stereotype that gamers are dumb, mean, and b1tchy little girls. Of course, i don't believe that stereotype because i am afterall a gamer, and a big one at that. Just wanted to know your guys' reactions. What makes this community so great??

The Joyeuse IP Formula

It's still a great community, but it is a big community. Not everyone has their heart invested in it. Right now, the community is in between Bungie IPs, and we're still transitioning away from Halo. The game forums are in a state of moderate disarray right now. So I'd suggest getting into a good private group, or check out the Bungie Univese, Septagon (here), or (inb4flames) the Flood.

I've been on here since age eleven. So I have seen the darker side that you're seeing now. But I can tell you that I've met the most amazing people from the community that I hope will remain life-long friends.

Bnet's community is pretty big. The Reach, ODST, or any Halo games in general are filled with trolls. That's a fact, but the community forums are a great place to be in. I prefer the community forums than any other forum in Bnet.

ok. Cause I am a pretty big community team player. I love talking to people with the same goal of world domination. The halo reach forum is probably the worst when it comes to trolls.

That's basically it. The game forums are filled with trolls and the community forums aren't.

Well i just need some positive reinforcement here, cause I know that bungie is amazing, and what they've done for the gaming community is huge. I guess the community forums are really like the core of bungie. It's where the true, respected, and honorable gamers are. And the game forums? thats where you have the noobs, and people who wake up on the wrong side of the bed every day. Am I right?

There are a few people in the game forums who are respectable too, but I'd rather stay in the community forums.

Too an extent, yes. Some people in the game forums aren't like that.

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

The main problem is, you're not making the most out of The Comunity. With no private groups and mainly frequenting the game forums, it's a wonder you haven't rage quit like so many others. You're actually conveying your feelings and accepting that there's a whole other side to The Community - that's awesome.

Like the others have said, spread out and seek the part of The Community you enjoy. There's so many things that this Comunity can be; all you have to do is look for what you like, especially in private groups. Find this, and it's like a dream vacation every time you log on.

Once you join this community and you stay for a little while, it's pretty hard to leave.

  • 09.06.2011 1:09 PM PDT

Just because there are a few people who complain about every aspect of a game (I used to be guilty of this), doesn't make the entire community terrible. I usually don't see as many of those complainers here in the Septagon. But every venture out into the depths of the game forums always shows a "bad side" of the community. These are the minority and should be dealt with by either ignoring them, or fighting a battle you're never going to win. I choose the former of the two.

Agreed. I joined up last year when ever I got live, and Bungie's been home to me and my gaming career ever since. I love the games that Bungie has made, and I love the way that Bungie invests so heavily on its community. I'm not a quitter, just very determined to be in the best part of the best community in gaming.

Hello, I'm Mr AwesomePizza. I like pizza and I'm a man. Reasoning for the name. I like to listen to the classics of music, write poetry, play video games, and much much more. I'm always down for a nice chat, so please hit me up for some conversation.

I like the community because of it diversity.
Some people hate the Flood because they say they're immature, but I love it when I'm tired and I need a good laugh. People think that the Community Forum is full of brown noses, But I like it to discuss the futer and present of the community. The gaming forum are argued to be hell, but I get help from their still. In all, each of the forums keep me in.

Clutchin' is a habit! 7th Column fo' lyfe

a couple years ago this community was so awesome man. ppl cared and i played with some really amazing people. even before then in earlier renditions of this community back in the H2 days and stuff it was great. Now though you are right. nothing but negativity and mostly from very young people. they just dont get what this community and bungie stood for and should still stand for. anyway it is NOT just you noticing this. its pretty sad.

I care alot about the rep of this community. Now from the outside, it looks great. And don't get me wrong, It still is great. But like every group, there's gunna be a few bad apples in the mix. Sadly, the younger generation is continuing to bring their stupid immaturity into the forums... especially the game forums. And I feel as if the community really needs to take a look at this. Are there really any good solutions? besides just ignoring them or fighting with them...

"We live in a special time; the only time where we can observationally verify that we live in a very special time" - Lawrence Krauss.

I was a finalist :P

This community is great and caring- more so than any other forum site I know. I don't think I'll ever leave and yes it is worth staying.

You are going to have good and bad days on this forum, you are going to get into silly arguments, but in the end the caring nature of this community completely overrides this negative force.
