Surely older users will of come to term with their usernames and not want to part with them

Racism isn't wrong if it's funny.

Yes.

EDIT:
10 points for making this thread a Hot Topic. Nice job OP.

Yeah. I mean it wouldn't require ridiculous amounts of time to read through the requests to find a meaningful one or anything.

Yeah.

Do I detect a hint of sarcasm?

Just make it so that a name can only be changed once. None of this acc. has to be 2 y/o and only 20 changes a month. Everyone gets one change, so make it count. That would be fair.

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

There are almost no reasons why a name change would be accepted.

A simpler way to ask would be:

Achronos, I would like my username changes, because...

2 years?

How about 5+?

Bit of a reward for the older users that are still around.

(I don't want my name changed, I use Elite Mouse for everything)

2 years is meaningless, just make a new account if you don't like your name.

My account is 2 tomorrow :(

Five years older and wiser
The fires are burning, I'm fire, never tire
Slay warriors in the forests, and on hire

Hello, my Bungie.net account is: ApocalypeX , and I would like to change my name to: spartain apoc 15.

Why do you want your name changed?
It's currently not cool enough.

How old is your account?
3 years. But who's counting.

Punch a bear in the face.

If you don't know who I am, the feeling is mutual.

I'd like a feature like this, just so I can change my username to "Bazoozle".

Still, it'd cause quite a few problems. Suddenly, people would be whining about how X stole their name or something. Plus, the servers would be clogged with requests, whether it's automatic or done by hand (I hope it wouldn't be a done by hand system, that'd be painful for whatever poor souls have to handle that).

So basically all this has told me is how to PM someone. I knew that already :/

At least i have a PM layout for next time though! :D

You know what, never mind.

I just wanted a clean and organized way to help solve a community issue with name changes.

I thought this would be an easy, organized set up (temporarily till Bungie.net picks up more traffic) for name changes.

I think you have a good idea here.

I just don't think people should be able to change their name, at all. It's really annoying.

I'd love a name change.

Because, when I first made an account here, I intended it to be Donut Fun. But I used the wrong e-mail, so I had to make another, so I tacked on another "n".

But by now, I'm sure "Donut Fun" is deleted, so I'd love to be able to change my name to it.

Sup bro? Heard you talking about me, thought I'd stop by and say hi.

-_-

Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally?

I see this as an issue on B.net, mostly old users want their name to be changed, now when you join there is a warning about your name that can't be changed, when I joined I didn't have that warning....

So I suggest just change names on accounts of 2 or 3+ years older, because only them are asking for it. Also with at least a passable history of bans and warnings...

Does anyone even read these?

5+ years sounds alright. And when Spartain approaches 5 years it should be increased to 6 years, and increased by a year every year.

  • 09.06.2011 6:32 PM PDT

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I was a finalist :P

I think it should be a name change once every 3-6 years, to avoid the ridiculous amount of messages getting sent to the name changing office.

  • 09.06.2011 6:34 PM PDT

Wake me, when you need me.

That's a nice idea Ken, but I don't think Achronos will follow through :(

Depends if you presented this idea just for yourself or for others. It just sounds like something you want badly so you decided to cover it up by saying it's for everyone else too.

And stop making silly threads, I'm trying to get an assignment done.

I have no plans of changing my name.

The "i" is silent, LOL.

It is not that big of a deal.

I think that for some, a name change would be nice, but it's not required. I would much rather the web team work on something more important than name changes. Anything really, new forums or adding a sent box.

Except that when you made your name you accidentally put in the i. Unfortunately for you, whenever I, and pretty sure everyone else that pronounces your name, pronounces it with 'tane' and not 'tan'.

And also you should admit it that you want to badly change your name. I'm not saying that's bad, I think you should change your name by making a new account and stop acting like such an idiot on the forums so you can actually have a fresh start, but don't make threads like this and cover up your own needs by saying it's for the good of the community.

I request a name change to waffle96x

  • 09.06.2011 6:59 PM PDT

Wake me, when you need me.

Why are most users on Bnet so against name changes? Thousands of other communities feature this option and they do just fine. It won't be very confusing. There is countless ways to make it not confusing at all. For instance: If someone hovers the mouse over your name, a little window will pop up showing that users previous name.

If you guys honestly think name changes are that hard/confusing; you need to go back to 1st grade.

I think most people here understand that it wouldn't work because of the amount of work that would be required from the site administrators to keep up with all the requests, not that we don't want name changes.
