No. You should be stuck with the one you made. There's no reason you should have to change your name unless you have OCD or a condition like that that would warrant or necessitate a username change. In that situation, I have no problem with someone getting their name changed.

But you shouldn't be able to change your name 95% of the time.
Because over the course of several years, your mind and brain significantly furthers in development. During that time, a lot of opinions and other things change including your taste in certain things.

*Looks back on '07*
"Dude I made this awesome gamertag, I don't think I'll ever change it!"
*2011*
"What the hell? What was I thinking when I made such a dumb name?"

that happens to a lot of people. TO be honest, I would go crazy if I was stuck with a name like CrazzySnipe55. No I'm not insulting your name, but I can definitely tell by your username that you're most likely under the age of 16. Like I exampled earlier, you made an awesome name when you were 14? Sweet. Wait until you're 17 or 18 when your mind is much more mature, and you'll probably think what a stupid name that was.

And when you're 18 and older, you don't want your name to look like a 14 or 15 year old made it. You want your name to reflect your age or maturity level. So that's why some people have a change of heart all the sudden, and want their name changed.

You see my point? I've made several examples, but I can go on...

Oh, don't get me wrong. I hate this username. But if everyone changed their names, we wouldn't be able to tell anyone apart from anyone else with how impulsively anonymous everyone would become with their constant name changing. Even one every 2 or 3 months would ensure that people don't know you from Joe-Floodian.

P.S. I am 16. Jokes on you!!! :P

I think members should have to meet certain requirements before being able to request a name change:

-Member for at LEAST 2 or 3 years.
-No bans/severe warnings within those 2 years.
-Can only request a name change every 2 years. (It would be annoying seeing peoples names change SO often)

These requirements would really narrow down how many requests the web team will have to take care of. They won't be getting thousands of requests, but instead maybe only a hundred.

It seems fair to me, and gets rid of the "too many requests" excuse.
Really? You guys are getting a bit far-fetched with this whole name changing concept.

That's because a lot of us are freakin' tired of our Usernames because of how LAME they are!

Then make a new account. Sacrificing a title for a new name seems like a fair trade to me especially if it was you that chose the name in the first place anyway.

I have plenty of new accounts with Usernames I like. I don't give a crap about my Title, it's how connected I am with my account. I would NEVER make a new XBL account, and I would never make a new main account on B.net. Not to mention this account is connected to my WLID.

After all the experiences I've had you just want me to throw it all away over a Username? It's not really that hard to come up with a system to allow users to change it every so often, it just seems like people make up excuses for the Webteam to not do it, when they actually can. I may be wrong, but it just feels true.

Allowing members with some prestige change their username will not overflow the Webteam.

Agreed, but you have to admire his ability to spark Hot Topics. A lot of people clearly wanted to talk about this.

Creating an alt wouldn't quite be the same. Your gamertag would be linked to the other one, you'd have to reset all of your profile settings, you wouldn't have your post history or saved threads, and you wouldn't have your member title (which, remember, the OP seems to be pretty concerned with pretty often) all of which you could eventually rebuild, but it'd be a tremendous pain in the butt.

Honestly, a name change is a big deal to me.

I made this account when I was immature, so I picked a lame username that I have regretted for 3 years. Some members will NEVER change their name, they grew on this site with that name, well it's different for me.

Achronos gave me faith when he said Bungie Pro subscribers may be able to change their usernames in the near future. Not only did that never happen, but Bungie Pro is now cancelled.

I have two alts, both with usernames I like. I will rarely use them, maybe sign into them every few months so they don't delete. I don't use them because your account is supposed to mean something to you, you're connected to it, and you gain prestige with it. It shows your dedication.

Even if I did want to use my alts as my new main, my WLID wouldn't be connected. I have an XBL account with nearly 4 years, and I wouldn't ever make a new one. Why waste 4 years of work over a username, so to speak?

I rarely EVER post anymore, but for the past 3 years, if I ever see a Thread about name changing, I will always post in it. The word needs to get out about it's importance to some people.

It's easy enough to connect your new bnet account to the XBL account you currently use. You say that you don't care about your title but then you talk about the prestige you gain.

You just need to make up your mind what is more important, a few letters you don't like or your title and join date for bragging rights.

I wasn't aware prestige only meant my title. It's everything you do that makes you YOU.
My title is nice to have, but it's not the reason I keep this account.

So with that said I don't fault you. I mean your only human, good or bad.

10 name changes a month? Haha what? That's a bit ridiculous because you would see one member with out the same name I think every one should only get one.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

:/

No, you MIS-UNDERSTAND.

Achronos and Urk combined will ONLY change 20 member's names PER month.

Only 1 user gets 1 name change per 6 months, not 10.

The name changes are all for different users.

You don't start building a house if you don't have the foundation.
For those who don't have half a brain;

How many times have you seen a username changed on Bungie.net?
close to none.

Why would achronos even BEGIN start accepting hundreds to thousands of requests for name changes?

Tom T(117)
Pezz(a)
The two that I can think of right off.

When it comes down to it, you can always PM Achronos if you want a username change. Just don't be surprised if(when) it doesn't happen.

Skibur, and of course you can think of it right off the bat, because it's so rare.

Then what is the reason you keep it, what other things make that account unique to you?

Your posts are off-topic and hurtful. I have respect for my fellow members and I do not know what I did to make you guys mad other than being active.

So, please stop trolling the thread and lest get back on topic.
