if you dont know what videocard it is, it most likely sucks. Unless you spent at least $200-300 on an upgrade its not a "good card". 90% of computers purchased in stores have either integrated cards, or some crap like an x1400, or geforce 6200. By good I mean can run games at 1280x1024, everything on high, and getting at least 60fps.

No need to download anything.

Go to Start -> Run and type "dxdiag (without the quotes).

Go to the "Monitor" tab and look in that list. It's there somewhere.

On mine I just right click on the desktop, then properties, then setting's, and then advanced. You should be able to find out all the info. you need here.

sorry that you have nothing else in your life to do except flame people in forums, u show off -BLAM!-

and what geek actualy pays 200-300 buks just for a better video card; the "crappy video cards" millions of other people uses works just fine

I don't think TMH was trying to be mean, just stating the truth. Most people who play computer games usually build their own monster systems or just buy a new graphics card because built in ones or wimpy X300's that come in expensive Sony computers just don't cut it for gaming.

a geek with a JOB does, something you probably dont know about. And those millions of other people probably dont even know what a videocard is either, let alone how to upgrade it.

edit - and no im not showing off. My card isn't even that great. I have an ati x800xl. Its much better than anything that comes with a "store-bought" computer, but its nothing like an ati x1900, or nvidia 7800GTX

Well, All I think that I have to say is that I'm on your side TMH1988 (if I dis you, I'm talking to lpjuunin). If you have an x700/6800 or above, you've got a card that rocks. Here's the sad thing. I paid less for my comp, I bet, than lpjuunin and it probably plays games better. My computer has:

AMD athlon xp 2800+-cost me 80 dollars(paid my friend 90 because he let me pay him later)-so don't dis me, and it came with the motherboard
which is an NF7-S
X800XT all in wonder GPU-300 dollars If I remember
512 MB RAM-40 dollars
120 MB HDD-free (christmas present) It was external but I took it apart and put it in my computer
integrated sound : (
Monitor-free 1600x1200 (friend's dad's work got rid of computer stuff, they were throwing away the best monitor I have ever owned)
wireless KB and mouse-30 dollars (works great, too)
CD-RW was from my brothers old comp-free (only 12x, but I never use it anyways and it works well enough when I do)
5.1 speakers (x530 from logitech)-30 dollars on newegg with thanksgiving discount that I recieved from newegg because I bought a 300 dollar graphics card.
DVD rom from old comp-free
PSU from friend 50 dollars (worth 70, he got the wrong one and wanted to get rid of it...)
Case from the same friend-10 dollars (really old, but I spraypainted it, looks like It cost 50 dollars, you can see your reflection in it (used special paint that bonds to plastic-looks nice, if you have a crap case, try painting it, I painted the drives, too)).
Black glossy spraypaint- two dollars

Total 552 dollars-give or take 10

It plays Halo on full settings, 1600x1200-no lag, period.

If you wait for the best deals, you can get a computer for almost nothing. It runs any game at nearly full settings (and I'm getting the following soon)
new-RAM, Motherboard,Processor, Sound card, SATA RAID, so on. It will probably cost me 1000 dollars if I get descent stuff. I don't think nerds pay a lot, they pay less and get better stuff anyway. We are smarter than lpjuunin, at least with computers, but oh well. In fact the only thing I spent more than 300 dollars on was the video card, and it makes my computer way better because of it. It makes my computer Rival almost any stock computer out there that cost 1000 dollars plus, and it cost half as much, because I have enough patience to wait. And people like us burn people like lpjuunin because we can, he would probably burn us if he could... anyways I'm sorry for the rambling and the other such mean comments, well some of them (I think forums are a great place to vent). Anyways, I am merely suggesting to lpjuunin that you reconsider what you said, It really makes you look, stupid. Not retarded, retarded people have an excuse, you just look stupid. I would also like to say sorry about grammatical errors that I don't mean to have.

That's a motherboard, not a graphics card, though iirc, it comes with an integrated x300se with 128mb dedicated memory, but i couldn't be sure because it's "m", for mobile, so it might not. If it does, then it'll play with almost everything on full with verry little slowdown.

According to the dell specifications, the dell dimension e310 has a pci-e port in it. Just buy any pci-e graphics card and plug it in, then instal the drivers, and it should run fine. I recommend the 6600GT range; they're excellent value, and can still do anything you throw at them. whatever you do DO NOT BUY AGP, agp and pcie are not intercompatible.

Get Marathon Here
Get Marathon 2 and Infinity Here

Dude, you just said D_ell.

Don't worry, the situation is under control, we just need a mod in here to irradiate your post and we should be fine. Do you feel twitchy? How about glitchy?

Build your own from the ground up before getting a Hell. Check that. Never get a Hell, period, for gaming anyway.

synthmilk what are you talking about? You probably dont know much about dells to begin with since your bashing them. My parents have a dell dimension 8400(p4 3.0) with 1.5 gigs of ram, and an ati x850pro and it is great for gaming. It scored an average of 79.3 fps on the halo pc benchmark with the resolution at 1280x1024 and all the settings high. I dont know what your talking about because theyre computer is very stable and has yet to have a problem in the 2 years theyve had it. (its been upgraded with x850 over the summer). My computer, which I built, is an amd 64 3200+ with 2 gigs of ram, and an ati x800XL scored an average of 77.3 fps. Im assuming your about 13 years old with your "never get a hell comment," and the fact that you really seem to know nothing about them. Sure if you get a $500 dell dont expect it to run anything on high resolution and settings, but you get what you pay for.
