Shameless plug for my blog:

Check it!

Since the Forerunners kept DNA/RNA samples of every known being in the galaxy, why didn't they keep their own DNA so the sentinels could simply bring them back as well? Is it simply that they felt they didn't 'deserve' to come back as they hadn't dealt with the flood correctly? If that's so, that is a horrible reason not to bring back the only people who had a chance of stopping the infection.

Or was it Mendicant Bias' fault?

Sorry if this is answered elsewhere, I just figured this was a quick and dirty way of getting an answer without sifting through information.

[Announcement Trailer] Halo: Forerunner

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

Who says they didn't?

If the novels flush out the idea of geas some more, you essentially have a way to live forever (continually transporting your mind to a new cloned body). I can't imagine an entire species would decide to opt out of immortality, no matter how regretful they are for their actions.

Simply to endure is to triumph!

Who says they didn't?

- Good argument! ;)
Who knows... maybe we will meet a Forerunner during the Reclaimer Trilogy?!
However, I think that there are no Forerunners left, because they really thought that they don't deserve it - or lets say the Librarian and the Didact thought that the time of the Forerunners is over. Maybe there were some corrupt Forerunners, like the Masterbuilder in Cryptum, who wanted their species to be saved too, but in the end it was the decision of the Librarian because she was the one who organized the whole thing and who decided which species should be saved.

This.

If you ask me, I think they did store their DNA somewhere. Maybe they did but the UNSC/Covies just haven't gotten close to one of their in habited planets? Shield worlds? Prob have forrunners on them.

Maybe humankind is actually descendent of forerunner-kind. Perhaps, perhaps not, but is there anyway to verify such theories? That is the inquiry to be asked.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Because the Forerunners didn't die...

Do you realize that Cryptum and Terminals showed the evidence of Forerunners still living after Halo event in 100,000 years ago...

"It is done. By my hands. The pyrrhic solution is ignited. All I have left is the quiet of space to lull me to sleep.
I will dream of you." - The Didact

I would say they didn't store their own DNA. . .as a punishment for the atrocity of the Halos. To do what needed to be done, no matter how contradictory to the Mantle, and the exile themselves. "We deserve to be forgotten" - 49 Abject Testament. Like the Didact as he exiled himself.

It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

This is an excellent point.

Do you know what kind of hat I'm wearing?

A party hat; you don't get one. An honor will this party be, a party in your honor, for your honor. Some of Tfear's personal guards are going to be there. You'll be introduced shortly.

Prepare to die.

I personally think that they realized that they weren't worthy of the mantle, so they decided to discard all technology and start with a blank slate after the halo firings.
They chose to live near the reclaimers on earth to follow their progress and are now know as the platypuses.

We'll probably find more about this in Halo 4 or Greg Bears books.

I think that there are possibly Forerunners left, but somewhere outside of the known galaxy. I haven't read all of Cryptum yet, but so far where I'm up to, it's been suggested that the Builders may have kept many secrets from the rest of them, and possibly began to expand outside of the Galactic perimeter.

After all, we do find the Ark beyond the rim. It would make sense that when the Halo array was activated to cleanse the Flood infection, that it would have been executed from that location. Thus, whoever was responsible for the activation, however few or many, would have used the Ark as a base to launch an expedition out of our known galaxy toward a more desirable, Flood free location, to begin rebuilding the empire.

I might be wrong, but it's just an idea.
