Subject: Effective countermeasures are insufficient...

There's always going to be ignorant people. It's not particularly a pressing issue at all in my opinion.

I just saw a green monkey nut shot a small tan lizard(?) in a gunny sack.

I just realized, Ken gets banned for trivial things, then whines about it, then makes up silly ideas in which people would be banned for trivial things, then whines when people don't like them.

I have an even better idea, they should transform the entire site into one big message saying, "WE HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH HALO ANYMORE, GO TO www.halo.xbox.com TO FURTHER DISCUSS THE HALO UNIVERSE.

Yeah, that would fix everything...

The title made me instantly think of Counter-Strike.

Anyways, as stated before, it's pretty in your face as it is. I'm sure over time the amount of Halo discussion will come to a slow halt.

Bungie told them enough. If they cant listen dont tell them.

It seems evident people aren't getting the message.

Which I don't understand.

But, I thought maybe trying to be "in your face", might help a little.

I'd say ban them, but that wouldn't work because you continue to post lame and in my opinion, unnecessary ideas.

You know, from what I have seen on the forums, people don't care about the idea, they care who the user who posted it was.

If someone else posted this, I could guarantee you more people would like this.

Either way, I want to see this forum to always get new members but they have to be kept up to date and I want all of them to know "BUNGIE is NOT in charge of Halo"!!!

I'm going to be honest with you, I don't know you nor do I care to get to know you. But here's some advice. You likely aren't an ass, you're just trying so hard to be. There are people who work for this website and company, if you feel you have a great idea to improve this site, then contact them about it. There's no reason to post it here where you know you'll get insulted. It's like when you're 3 and your mom says, the iron is hot don't touch it. But of course you touch it because you are 3 but you learn, hey that hurt like hell and never touch it again. You keep touching the iron...

Look, it's great you love Bungie, Halo, and whatever else. But I'm going to presume you are 13 - 16 years old and as such, don't have too good of priorities set. This site likely isn't one, and if you ever want to work for Bungie, that is years away. Hang around here for awhile and wise up but find something else to do as well for your age.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

"We live in a special time; the only time where we can observationally verify that we live in a very special time" - Lawrence Krauss.

I was a finalist :P

All in all, we should attempt to stop caring about tiny problems. I am pretty sure the phrase:
Bungie is no longer managing the Halo Universe. While our Halo-related forums and stats remain available, be advised that "official" answers and support about the Halo Universe (past, present, or future) are not
Has halted a lot of peoples hands from moving the mouse to the submit thread button- we just look at the negative because that is all that we see.

Most users post in the wrong forum because they are either new or have been here a while, but just never posted. The best thing to do in this situation is to point the user nicely in the right direction, or send a nicely worded PM. The odds are that they would not commit a similar 'offence' again ergo making the prevalence of incorrect forum posting less likely.

PEANUT-BUTTER SLAP!

I'm certain it'll get worse once Halo 4 info boils to the surface. I think the message should contain links to 343's site; blue stuff is always more noticeable.

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

Can't do much better than that. It's not so bad. Most people come here out of habit, and even when HCEA and Halo 4 come out, people that like Halo will still come here.

I honestly never noticed it until I read about it in a thread. How about a pop up?

OP: Forcing someone to 'read' something before they post would be ineffective. Its similar to Terms of Use and EULAs, do you read them? Probably no, most people just click the accept button at the bottom and continue their business. How can you expect others to do what you most likely do not?

On topic. That's stupid. What about the people who already know this? Would we have to click some stupid agreement every time we want to post?

The way it is now is fine. There are always going to be people that are 'out of the loop' so to speak. My advice? Deal with it.

I think you pretty much just gave a good reason right there as to why this should be implemented.

Most people come here out of habit
That's true, people will come here out of habit and post about Halo, because it's what they've done for years. There is those members who don't stay up to date with Bungie and their actions. I knew about the change, but I honestly didn't even see that popup in the reply page for two days because I was so used to it not being there.

This honestly isn't a big deal, it just seems whenever ideas are handed to the community, all people will do is make excuses to not add these things. :/

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Why do people think it is every time you post?

It is a one time thing, if they choose to ignore it again, but accept the agreement, they have no excuses for posting the irrelevant Halo threads.

What are we supposed to be discussing here?

"Nothing in the 'Verse can stop me."

You just suggested a more annoying version of what is already in place. In fact, you even quoted it.

  • 09.08.2011 3:43 AM PDT

Whatever it takes to make everyone realize Bungie no longer owns the Halo franchise is what I want. An "in your face" approach may be suitable.

  • 09.08.2011 3:59 AM PDT

Twitter | Nothing

I've always argued against having any sort of pop-ups when you hit the reply button, regardless of what it is saying. It just makes posting much less enjoyable.

if they can't get the message through the means that are already existing then I doubt the pop-up will help. They'll simply click whatever they need to click to make the pop-up go away. In the mean time everyone else get's slowed down by an annoying pop-up.

In short: No.

I think it would be more noticeable if the quote was like this:

..,However, that's not going to make people actually read it.

That won't even stop people. Bungie not owning the rights to Halo is a well-known fact if you're involved with gaming. What they have now isn't even necessary, but oh well. If you don't know, you don't know. It wouldn't be a significant change.
