Too bad they deleted my other post from the forums.....like it will stop me.

All we are trying to do is protect kids from cussing and exually explicit comments while playing Halo PC.

You'd think Bungie would want to help with that......wouldn't they?

It's a rated 'M' for a reason. Shut the fug nuggets of irritating doom up!

And what does 'exually' mean? We know stupid immature children will play Halo PC and swear all the time and whine and yada yada yada, but seriously.

I'm not saying that I like swearing and offensive comments, but Bungie has no responsibility over what people say online. It's in the license agreement for Pete's sake. But I'm not going any further on this, because I don't need to continue to state the obvious.

And stop sounding all dramatic with the incredibly annoying and unnecessary ... periods.

Kim you need to chill out. Your right that Bungie has no responsibility for the language on-line but the rest was unnecessary and excessive.

Megan -- I understand your frustration but there is very little we can do about it. Bungie has no legal responsibility for the in-game chat. While they may have a moral responsiblilty, trying to enforce that in this day and age is nearly impossible. The only thing I can suggest is that you find server where it is kept to a minimum. Try the {SOC} & [COG] servers, they are adminied by Christians and they try there best to keep it clean.

It won't do much... if the kids want it, and the parents won;t do anything about it, they'll have someone buy it for them, or lie on some form to get it.

My age is 31 today by the way.

given the amount of -blam!- abuse that has been perpertrated by the church, I hardly think the christian servers are a safe haven.

people should be briefed that if conversation strays too far from whats relevant to game play then they should quit the game. but thats up to the parents to monitor isn't it.

That would be a great idea. How many parents do you know that will sit with thier kids while they play online? And how many do it in reality?

The simple fact is that kids should be able to play online (as well as in thier neighborhoods) without having to worry about being abused. We are siimply trying to give them that chance.

I assume "the church" you refer to is the Catholic Church with its past history of abuse by Priests.....

I am not Catholic.

If you prefer for children to be subject to abuse (as you seem opposed to stregnthening the admin controls).....at least have the nades to say so.

When I was 7-8 years old I could go out for up to 4 hours at a time. I would wander at times several miles from my house. Can't recall ever being afraid, messed with, and my parents, brothers and sisters didn't worry to much about it.

I wouldn't think of letting my eleven-year old go that far in today's world. Are we a paraniod society? Has the world changed that much in 25years? I wouldn't let my kids play or surf on-line until they are probably 14 or older. There is too much crap on the internet, and most of it is the people.

No, you don't want to sit down and watch your kids play their games on-line but you better at least invest in doing the first couple of times they do so you can get a guage for what they are getting into and maybe talk about some of the things that people say and do. You can also set an example of how you want them to act on-line. It's up to the parents to do something about it. Unfortunately if you were required to get a license to have children there would lot less people in the world (at least in the US)

Just a thought here, there are 1000+ servers online every day. Bungie would need to have at least 1000 people checking out the servers, right? But then one person can't moderate 24/7, so with 4 shifts a day to have fair hours for the employees that would be at least 4000+ admins. How much would it cost to hire that many people to prevent something that might not even be hapenning?

If it's so much to you, then instead of trying to get something to happen that probably never will try to get your own server or Rcon privileges to another so that you can help keep at least one server moderated and 'kid safe.'

I have an easy way to deal with the players that are loud and excessive. Just outsmart them. 9 times out of 10 they'll get angry and leave the server because they're too stupid to come up with a decent reply to "Oh -insertnamehere- that was such a witty comment! However do you come up with it?" Sometimes that does it, sometimes it takes a little more. Oh yes, I've very sarastic.

It is unfortunate that those licenses are not required. Have you noticed that the birth rates are highest where IQs are lowest?

Children are a gift and a responsibility that many (if not most) parents are not prepared to undertake.

Regardless of those facts, I feel that it is the responsibilty of all adults to care for children - no matter who thier parents may be. It makes for a better society for all. We are simply trying to protect the kids that play online as best we can.

Currently, we have a simple need that Bungie could help us with that would enable us to keep our servers safer for all players.

I have notified one of the ninjas (in a PM) of our problems and our request. I will let you know if I hear back from him.

We already do that. We have admins in all time zones in the US and a few in Europe that help to keep our servers safe.

The problem we have is that other players know that they can't be banned/kicked for cussing (or other inappropriate comments) that they do in texting if they quit immediately after they post thier crap in a text message.

What we are asking for is a simple way to log the data needed to ban a player (IP and CD key) as soon as that player logs in so that we can add that info to our banned files if the player does do a cuss n run or says other inappropriate things to our young players and quits before we can ban them using RCON.

Halo gathers that info now when you ban someone and puts it in the server's banned file. We want to gather that same info as soon as they log on to our servers, ao that we can ban them if they quit after texting something of an inappropriate nature.

And, Bungie doesn't need to monitor a thing - if they give us the capability to do it ourselves. So far, we don't have that capability.

Ah yes, I have seen that kind of behavior... What you ask for is fair, I think. It would help ban the cuss-and-quits in your servers as well as other kinds of bannable jerks who quit too fast. It would be a good thing to include in the next update (if any) or Halo 2 PC at least.

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

I'm 17.
Try playing in The Maw server and the TUI server. They are usually clean, and the worst word I have seen is damn, and if you think about it that really isn't swearing since it's just a way of saying to condemn something.(from Latin damno, damnare)

to an extent, i agree with megan, but not for her reasons of "Oh god won't someone please think of the children!!". Steam is the prime example of a perfect admin system. Every steam account is assigned a unique steamid that is viewable by everyone on the server with a simple command, this steamid can be added to the banned users file any time you wish, or banned ingame using the rcon.

What's best about steam is that many of the features have been enhanced by other admin mods, the most popular and best being the Mani Admin Plugin, which gives admins a simply massive array of tools, from changing teams, to speaking in a special admin text colour to banning people at the push of a button. It even has special punishment measures for those who have been naughty, but not not enough to be banned, such as slaying, slapping, burning, freezing, time-bombing, flame-bombing, freeze-bombing and gimping. Better admin tools and interfaces are a definite must for H2Vista as frankly, RCon admin access for server-side admins, or lesser admins (bear in mind rcon is total control; you might not want your admins with total control), is a thing of the past, admin UIs and tool kits are far more effective.

Aside from that, bungie have no responsibility or jurisdiction to moderate other people's server, as they're just that, other people's servers. You can't go around policing other people's property. It is purely the server owner's responsilbity to make sure his server is policed.

Anyone below the age of 18 is considered a child to me. You can't vote, can't go into the military, cant rent/buy a house or apartment, can't lease or buy a car, can't apply for credit cards; basically you can't do alot of things that make you an "adult" and are necessary for independence.

In a perfect situation for MS and bungie, no one under the age of 17 would be playing halo. Since this isn't the case, the M rating is kinda just overlooked now. I dont care really, i mean its up to the parents if they want to monitor what their kids are doing.

This game is old. You can't expect them to create a perfect admin system for a game that is years old.

That is the way the most popular software is programmed these days (firefox anyone?). Give people the ability to MOD your apps (within reason) and the app will be infinitely superior to anything you could pull off yourself.

I agree with you. All we are asking is for a little help from Bungie in getting the knowledge we need to write the tools. We aren't even asking them to write the tools for us.

We'll do the work. We just thought Bngie would be the place to go for info on how to add to the admin tools.

The only other thing for us to do would be to try and reverse engineer the protocols/code to figure it out ourselves. Not only is this a breach of the Halo agreement, it is a massive waste of time when Bungie could so easily help us keep our servers safe.

If Bungie will help with the info we need, I'll write it and give the tool away to other admins.

We're just looking for a little help in keeping our servers safe and the gaming experience one that Bungie will be proud of .... heck, it might even sell more games.
