So, i thought, could humanity in our age defeat 1 forerunner sphinx without forerunner onboard but only an Ai?

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

Maybe? There's practically no information on their capabilities, so you might as well just flip a coin.

Well with some of the larger, modern nukes USA, Russia and North Korea have I'm sure they could destroy continents too.

and if they can do that, the UNSC 500 years from now must have some pretty powerful nukes (they're even good enough to have a decent effect in the vacuum of space)

IIRC you could combine all the nuclear weapons in the world to form a big bomb but it would barely do jack all to the crust. I think the newer models could shoot right through the crust with ease and could "turn over plates" something along the lines like that, though.

I've forgot which page from Cryptum that was from though, It was on the Prophet's restricted home world.

Halo 2 isn't dead jorge...... its just missing in action.

Brown coat 'till the day I die.
Sheningans!
Wake me...when you need me.

I think it would take alot of firepower.

Why do so many people think nukes are the answer to fighting problems?

On topic though, maybe we could take it out if we fired all our nuclear arsenal and all of it directly hit it even then I doubt it'd take it out. Conventional stuff would do jack all to it.

Maybe if we used a super connected mega AI made from all devices on earth interlinked, and maybe a few antimatter bombs...then maybe but you'd be in for a big-ass fight that would probably destroy most of the useable land on earth.
But the sphinx is lightyears ahead of human technology even in the future so the AI in the sphinx would have probably predicted this and made a counter attack plan.

WE'RE ALL DOOMED!!!

The Sphinx's were on Earth, just before the Forerunner-Flood war.

Considering that the Forerunners annihilated Humanities ancient interstellar empire with said machines, I think we would (in the Present) be royally screwed over.

A single War Sphinx vs say a tank regiment would probably wipe out maybe half of them before taking even serious damage, your talking about one of the most advanced alien empires in fiction vs our modern day military? Oh yeah sure we would definitely 'sarcasm'.

in all seriousness a single Sphinx wouldn't get very far but it would do a lot of damage, a warship on the other hand....

Halo universe is vast, and no one knows will we be ever able to unlock all it's secrets...

I think that it would be possible but it would mean massive human losses... And no one else than forerunners knows exactly how powerful it is.

Not necessarily by itself. It would seriously -blam!- one up, but it'd take a squadron of Sphinxes to actually destroy one, at least thats what the book implies. They can destroy cities though (Forerunner cities no less).

The Seekers, the new Sphixes, could rip chunks out of a planet, turn them over and flatten them, presumably with some sort of gravity beam. Its actual weapons, lasers, plasma and Hard Light, were so powerful the effects could be seen from space, including glassing-esque fire-hurricanes and so on.

Its even more hilarious when you consider this is labled as a combat suit.
