Halo universe is vast, and no one knows will we be ever able to unlock all it's secrets...

Over 100 000 years ago Prehistoric humans had a conflict with Forerunners with led them into war against each other. At the end Forerunners won. The victorious Forerunners decided to dismantle every piece of human civilization, causing the species to regress to a pre-technological state.
But what else do we know about these great battles and what kind of people those prehistoric humans were? What kind of technology did they have before the great loss?

Subject: Prehistoric humans

Joshua Piper

Unfortunately not that much I'm afraid, besides the fact that we know they were de-evolved into multiple species and had an interstellar empire around 150,000 years ago give or take a few hundred years.

I imagine that Greg will explain a bit more in his second book.

I have heard also something like that humans had a medicine for the flood (!) But before Forerunners whiped them out they destroyed the medicine for revenge so that Forerunners would have to fought against flood really hard.

Humans weren't wiped out, they were just forced to de-evolve by forerunners because forerunners were afraid of their technology and their aggressive nature.

But true they indeed had a medicine to cure the flood but they destroyed it (possibly as a final act of vengeance).

The Flood we had fought was a primitive, less intelligent version, so it was more susceptible to various defensive meassures. Theoretically, the medicine would no longer work on the Flood since it evolved.

And it's a highly adaptable super cell, it'd be like trying to cure the common cold (except it's a common cold that kills people, steals their memories and turns the host into a zombie parasite)...

Theoretically, if you had a REALLY good, genetically enhanced immune system that could rapidly develop antibodies to a new infection and had really effective white blood cells (which might be do-able with ancient human/forerunner tech) could you fight off a bunch of flood super cells inside your bloodstream and resist infection?

Seeing as it's stated that the Forerunners tried everything, it seems not. The Flood is constantly evolving and adapting, the only thing that repels the infection is the augmentations members of the Orion Project recieved.

Actually, no. Your immune system would have to be able to work faster then Cortana can think. The FSC is impossibly adaptable, to the point where pretty much all things thrown at it on a molecular level become useless. If anyone's seen the Andromeda Strain, its like that, but worse. Much worse.

That would be maybe possible! It would be interesting to read forerunner-flood war book (it exist) or pre-human - flood war book. That's how we could get ansrews. Unortunately we don't know much about pre-humans' technology...

We don't know so much about forerunners and their medicines or technology so we could say that it is 100% impossible. And actually I said that there is forerunner-flood book ;)

Speaking of Prehistoric humans do you guys think Greg Bear/343 is going to relate that ancient human metropolis in Africa to the Prehistoric Humans in the Halo universe? Just a thought.

It would be awsome if they would give us more information about these pre-humans! It might be possible that they would show us more about these ancient times even in Halo 4.
