Subject: Off-site Jobs?

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I read a while ago in a thread Achronos said (can't find the quote) that some Bungie employees don't work at Bungie studios.

Like what jobs would those be?

I would think working on this site wouldn't require you to be at the Studio. Urk's job also seems suitable for home... though there may be more to it.

He's also a writer. Hence he must interact with the other peoples.

Do you remember where you saw this? I can find it if you can tell me a brief summary of where it was. News Post, in the forums, etc.

I don't see any reasons why testers for certain projects couldn't test said projects at home, although I suppose they would probably have to go to the studios to actually get the software they would be testing, so they might just test it while they are there.

Note: I have no idea how that job works...

I'm a college dropout.

I don't know if Achronos said anything, but I did say this.

Clutchin' is a habit! 7th Column fo' lyfe

there are lots of jobs in my industry (visual effects) like that. mostly outsourced job like that though are only outsourced to people top in their specialty like matte painters or I.T., I.O. or render wranglers. some special coders and script writers are usually outsourced like that as well.

Also my company for instance like bungie im sure has cells all over main places where the industry is heavy i.e. cananda, the UK, etc. We have 5 studios total and several companies we outsource to and from.

"I have no words that would do justice to the atrocities you commit to the English language, as well as your continued assaults on the concepts of basic literacy and logical reasoning."

I think you're making that up.

Indeed, I specfically remember a few times I've said the opposite - as in, we expect employees to be here on site, and there aren't any "off-site" jobs.

Making games is highly collaborative. We don't have offices/cubicles, we try and remove those barriers as much as possible. Being "remote" all the time is not optimal.

Clarification: I'm speaking specifically about people working for Bungie directly (as in jobs you'd see posted on our jobs page), not for some firm doing some task on our dime.

I am sorry :p

I must of miss-read that post a while back but I understand what you mean.

I could understand how not being able to collaborate would cause problems.

They may allow employees to work from home depending on what their job is and very specific reasons for staying home. Having a child(applying to males) is one possible reason for staying home for a short while.

Yeah I could see that for Urk temporarily, I think I misunderstood what Achronos said a while back.

My bad, but I guess if a lot of people worked out of office, things would get confusing, but I could see it temporarily for a few employees.

When I grow up, I want to be just like goofenhour.

One of my friends at the studio says he can work from his house via VPN. And by that, I don't think he means that he doesn't have to come in to work because he can work from home. It's just that he has the ability to work from his house if he needs too.
