I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.

I think it says somewhere under the careers tab that you must work AT bungie studios and that remote location jobs are non-existant.

Did you know that 93% of all statistics on the internet are made up on the spot, and that 68% of readers believe them?

I would imagine that working in that type of environment would be so great that you'd seldom want to even leave! Hell, I'd probably just set up a cot and some snacks next to a bathroom and live there!

Making games is highly collaborative. We don't have offices/cubicles, we try and remove those barriers as much as possible. Being "remote" all the time is not optimal.

Joel Spolsky (you might know him from JoelOnSoftware.com), who seems to be a great guy with great ideas, defends that private offices (NOT cubicles) (and 900$ chairs lol) for programmers are the best thing in the world.
Not every programmer in the world wants to work in a private office. In fact quite a few would tell you unequivocally that they prefer the camaradarie and easy information sharing of an open space.

Don't fall for it. They also want M&Ms for breakfast and a pony. Open space is fun but not productive. Last summer, the Project Aardvark interns were all in a big open space. The net result was that there was no such thing as a conversation between two people. Every time I went out there to talk to one of them, it became a conversation with all of them; every time two people had to talk, instead of going off to a quiet space somewhere, they just spoke directly to each other, interrupting the other two's concentration.

Why does Bungie defend the opposite so violently? It's pretty obvious that if you're focused on writing the most beautiful peace of code a man could think of and then someone yells from across the room "Hey guys, check this out!" or the guy next to you asks you if you have a red pen, that focus and everything you had planned in your head is gone, and the refocusing process will mean wasted time.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Wasn't that the security guard of Bungie HQ? He was on the second disc of the Halo 3 Legendary edition (bonus content).

I wonder if he gets the haunted helmet at any rank?

Thus I refute thee

Hang on who was the guy that did work outside of Bungie, he was on one of the bonus disc (can't remember which game) but I'm pretty sure he did the art work for the medals or something, the video was about a good setup for a router or something, anyway I'm pretty sure he works outside of Bungie, quote me if I'm wrong ...

Actually, the problem of wasted time in software development is an extremely interesting one, and it's one Bungie, as they developed from the bedroom-and-garage studio that put out Halo 1 to the highly professional house it is today, got a very good handle on. The two publications Wrangling Engineers the Bungie Way and Building Your Airplane While Flying: Production at Bungie detail quite well how, by keeping your whole staff flexible at the small scale, but keeping to a strict process of iteration for the big picture, you can both reap the benefits of an extremely creative, open office without falling into the pitfalls that so damaged H2.

I suspect the problems found with open plan office working are not a consequence of the layout, but rather a consequence of unprofessional staff and a lack of a production framework. Engineers the world over will tell you production staff are the devil's work, but applied properly, they really do work.
