I was just watching the flood encounter cutscene and comparing it to the old cutscene. I began to notice very subtle differences. The camera angles are the easiest to spot, but as I looked closer, I notices that some of the Chief's movements were a bit too crisp to be animated. (Keep in mind, that the Halo games used animation over motion capture up until Reach)
The best place to watch is when MC walks over to Jenkins' helmet after he puts the dead marine down. The walk is completely different than the original. If you watch the original, the chief walks just like he does when crouching during game play (it's very klunky and unrealistic).
Also, right before he grabs the helmet, he pauses, setting his right arm on his knee: A motion that is not seen in the original. Mind you the camera angle of the original makes it tough to see, but his arm never stops.
This leads me to believe that all the cutscenes have been either motion captured (Staying as close to the original motions as possible) or re-animated.
What do you guys think?
*Edit*: MC also places his hand on the marine after he sets him down. I also believe the cutscenes were rendered in another engine. This is more a theory than anything else, but the ragdoll physics of the dead marine is much better then the original.
