Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Halo PC offers these great things over Halo 2 Vista:

1) Trolling psycho -blam!-s
2) Cleverly concealed hacks
3) Banhappy 5 year old admins with tourettes
4) Unlimited rockets! (less hacks)

Halo Custom Edition offers thousands of quality, custom-made maps THAT NOBODY PLAYS. With a certain modification, you can leave the few dozen saintly 1.09 players and join the over 3,000 1.00 players that also only play a few extremely poor quality custom maps that favor spam and stupidity over quality.

I don't know if Halo PC/CE was always this crap, but it hardly seems worth keeping installed anymore. There's nothing left but scum anymore on those servers.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

I love that game. My best days of PC FPS gaming centered around that game. With every fiber of my being, I want to say that you're wrong. But I can't, because you're not. :(

But in all fairness, H2V has all of that too.

Nope. Never once found a rocket match, rarely been called out as a hacker, never once been banned, and everyone always seems to want to add you to their friend's list instead of hate on you. The only problem in those terms with Halo 2 Vista is how everyone plays Team Snipers (Mainly on Lockout or Foundation) or CTF on Midship. Then again, its easy to gather a game by hosting one to your liking.

To point out something else that's extremely sad to me, I did this using a controller. If that's not sad enough, I couldn't win any of my matches on Halo 2 Vista using the same controller. We all know that its not the game's fault that happened... I should have easily done better on Halo 2 Vista, but it seems that the only people left on Halo PC Pubs are absolutely terrible...

The problem is that people are tired of playing the same game over and over again and decided that it was more fun to play with mods with extreme/unlimited amounts of rockets in base or tank snipers, but are too ignorant to download Custom Edition (asked my clan members to download CE and they said it's a too much of a bother). H2 is filled with "xX UbEr MLg pRoZzZzZ 420 Xx" which tend to play snipers and BR only. The other people on H2V are the braindead sword noobs who play Coag 24/7 or the modded maps.
What the people want is something new, and seeing how the "H3 maps" are quite popular, the people just want a Halo 3 pee-cee version. I want it too :´(

Rocket Servers, Sniper Servers, and crappy modded servers have been the majority of the matches on Halo PC since 1 year into the game. It was just easier to find a decent game because there were more servers in general. It can't be that they're tired of the base game if they've been exposed to those types just as long.

There aren't a lack of people knowing to play Halo Custom Edition. Halo Custom Edition has far more people playing it than basic Halo PC. (Doesn't matter if its pirates that make up most of the population on Custom Edition, its just the fact there are more people there.)

Halo 3 maps in general are not more popular than other maps. The most popular custom map I've found is RPG Beta 6_2 map. The only h3 map I ever see being played is [h3]Sandtrap and that's because of how well made it is in comparison to the other unique weapon set maps.

Like I've said before, I've only played Coagulation online on Halo 2 Vista once. It is true that Sniper/BR only makes up for 80% of the servers. (80% due to how little servers there are. It would be 95% if there were more :P)

The problem is, for some reason, the high majority of Halo PC players just..... Well.... to put it frankly, suck. Most good PC gamers hate the Halo franchise for what its known for on the console. There's a lot of animosity towards it due to how it made people think FPS games are better on the console. The majority of the people attracted to Halo PC are just players of the series that want a cheaper form of online Halo gaming. It doesn't get enough recognition for what it can be.

So if Halo 1 PC/CE offers all that then I'd hate to imagine what H2V offers. By your logic H2V must be unplayable. Unless you're being sarcastic. If you are indeed being sarcastic then I'm deeply saddened and disappointed.

He means its essentially just as bad. All Halos on the PC have gone to to Hell. I hate to admit it, seeing as though Halo PC is my favorite Halo of all time, but I can't deny it. If I did I would just be nostalgicly-impaired.

It doesn't matter if the HEK sucks on H2V (1), it doesn't matter if its easier to get a kill on H2 than CE (2), and it doesn't matter if controllers are easier to use. (3)

1. It doesn't matter if the HEK on H2V sucks compared to CE's now. No one on Custom Edition even cares to play custom content anymore. (Unless you count RPG maps and the occasional Sandtrap)

2. It doesn't matter if its easier to get a kill on either game because everyone who plays is so bad it makes no difference. Its a cake walk on either game for me. In fact, I get more of a challenge on H2V because people can actually kill me easier..

3. Basically the same as I said before about skill not mattering anymore. Look to the screenshot I linked earlier when I was using a controller on Halo PC with no auto-aim or large hitboxes...

In the end, everything is just terrible with the general community. Node is completely right. If there isn't something new with Halos on the PC soon I might uninstall as well.

im sorry to hear this, but, if you ever find me as a host, im completely mature and ban absoulutely nobody, i would never hack in my life, never troll, and never play rockets for more than one game. i also will host good custom maps every now and then, just hosted a halo 2 sanctuary remake today and got 10 people to join.

Pretty good news, but I'd rather it not be a remake of another Halo :P Try some No Remorse and see if people will join. (Already tried :/)

i wasn't even trying to host, i was just trying to check out the map and 10 people ended up joining, idk if it was luck or what.

ps i added you on xfire, which im still trying to figure out...

For the record, playing Halo 2 Vista with a controller is fun as hell. I simply laid down and played H2V for an hour. Great fun.

And Syx is right about the people being much friendlier, I found that hosts were much more open to suggestions and that the players tended to do mean things less often.

On the subject of the limited H2EK, I got to talk to Kills Alone a little. Actually, we ended up talking and playing his maps for about four hours. It was pretty awesome.

Apparently custom weapons, vehicles, sounds, ui's, and scenery are currently possible, and they're constantly moving forward. H2MT is a really bright group of people from what I've seen. They've reverse-engineered H2V's d3d9.dll in order to unlock ui's, in addition to the Main Menu Mod (h2.5) and countless BSP conversions (along with original ones and remakes of maps from other halo games).

In short, I'm really excited about Halo 2 Vista modding, and can't wait to see what else comes along.

The moment Halo 2 Vista catches up to the Xbox version in terms of modability, im not going to bother. Last time i tried, the game crashed with remotely advanced stuff (that worked fine on the xbox) and the tags for MP maps were still locked out which kinda ruled out the possibilty of adding campaign vehicles and models etc.

Your definitely not playing your games in the right place.
I would suggest you try ®ealworld out. http://www.realworldce.com
No obligations, no requirements, no forced tags.
Its a guild, just a bunch of people that play and enjoy custom map sessions multiple times a week. (Yes, the main servers you see in the lobby are standard map cycles.)
On the forum or through Xfire you'll be notified on when these sessions take place.

Can you say: "I have to wait 10 minutes to get in a 16 players custom map server if I don't hurry on joining during session times." (100 custom map cycle)
That's how the past 3 months have been like.

I agree actually. Those servers are good. Probably the only good servers left on Halo PC.
