In the way of part of the new Germany was Poland so Hitler and Stalin took it over so Germany could grow.

What.

It is honestly confusing me...

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

There really isnt any logical explanation that I know of available.

I believe it is a gameplay reason.

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

Gameplay reasons, I believe Wraiths have them in the books, can't remember though.

Only in Halo Wars, which is again, for gameplay reasons.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Reach vehicles are made out of plastic. The Covies don't know how to put shields on plastic, yet.

>>ALERT<<

Class 1337 "noob sauce" inbound; Troll units cleared to engage.

... Huh. Good question.

I mean, if they can figure out how to apply energy shielding tech to infantry, why not apply them to the vehicles?

... Matter of fact, wouldn't the vehicles have shielding first?

Space. The Final Frontier. These are the voyages of Murphy's Laws on the StarShip Enterprise

Most logical reason is power constraints. The Covenant mimic technology, and don't really adapt much. However, Humans created MJOLNIR, so the Covenant probably could create power packs with forerunner tech

Bungie.Match.com: Our Johnson knows what the ladies like.

The Covie ships have shields, and many of their infantry... no reason vehicles wouldn't have them... I think they do have 'em in canon, but were taken out of the game for gameplay reasons.

  • 09.09.2011 2:17 PM PDT

The Seraphs have them.

so did the locusts, and the ghosts.

like someone said, vehicles in the halo games are made of plastic and held together by prayer. (in the case of the covenant, literally.)

Imagine Banshees with shields. That would suck.

Then again, in the books it is not mentioned. Perhaps is it something to do with the weapons mechanisms? Slows down rates of fire because the shields have to be dropped to fire? I dunno. Just a thought.

The shields would be lowered at the point where weapons discharge occurs, much like on covenant ships in space battles when plasma turrets fire.

To answer OP, I believe in canon Banshees and Wraiths are equipped with shields if I remember rightly from the books. Unsure about other vehicles.

KIWIZ RULE THE WORLD!

Its just that nobody knows it yet...

Its mainly because of gameplay. It would be to one sided if the covie's had shields on their vehicles but not us.

Because it would be pointless.

A shield with a power source small enough to be carried on the vehicle wouldn't be strong enough to protect it from anything more than light small arms fire, which the vehicles armor can provide protection.

Wrong!
In halo wars updating your vehicles so they had shields was a very good tactic and they held fine. (not sure how strong HW's cannon is though...)

Well, they certainly downgraded the Banshees when they arrived to Alpha Halo, since you can destroy one in less than half an AR's clip.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Their space vehicles do have shields, but I don't think they transferred them to land-based vehicles. I mean, only the Elites ever really got full body shielding and Jackals got shields. The Covenant aren't THAT smart.

  • 09.10.2011 6:38 PM PDT

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

It would be tough to balance for gameplay.

  • 09.10.2011 6:38 PM PDT

purple is a shield

  • 09.10.2011 7:22 PM PDT

Marine: "Got a new contact. Unknown Classification!"
Lord Hood: "If it isn't one of ours, take it out."
MC: "This is bus 117, can anyone hear me? Over."
Lord Hood: "Isolate that signal. Master Chief, you mind telling me you're doing at that school?"
MC: "Sir... picking up these kids."

I feel it's mainly due to the fact that in gameplay you can have multiple people in most of their vehicles (except Ghosts) and rather than have people running through the shields, they don't have them, because as we know they really should be able to go through them, the shields on their ships have to be deactivated when smaller ships board them, don't they?

One could say "Alright, well just deactivate the shields when someone wants in" but that's tedious.

If they don't have shields there's no contradiction of canon with people going through them to enter or activating/deactivating them which would make for some wonderful trolling.

Hello! You may also know me as Ijnekono. How you have made your way here I do not know, but welcome. (:

I think the human vehicles should be tougher, and the covy vehicles have shields to balance it.
