Subject: Becoming A Part of the Team

I am 21 yrs old and I have been trying to gain the skills needed to break into the world of game design for about 8 yrs now. However I come from poverty and my love for games has hindered my efforts considerably. I never seem to be able to save enough to buy the good game developing software i.e. Dark Basic, yet I always buy the new games. So I have made many attempts using a Program called Gamemaker, It is a free to use program unless you want the premium features which from the list of features didn't seem worth very much. Anyway, I was wondering what Skills I would have to be able to demonstrate to acquire a job in the Bungie studio? I'm willing to do whatever it takes. I want my little girl to look back when I'm gone and know that her father brought our family out of poverty and he did it doing something he truly loved.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to read my post.

P.S. - I have only asked this to Bungie, because you seem more like a family working towards a mutual goal than a corporation that is only after as much profit as possible. I love what Bungie has made so far would would love to be able to contribute.

As Rider already linked, that would be your best bet as far as what criteria you need to have as a basis. You should also look at posting this in the Community Forums.

Best of luck to you mate.

I appreciate your help, and considering the skill of Bungie as a team I will need all the luck I can get to catch their eye.

I don't think you'll catch their eye with DarkBasic and GameMaker.

You're gonna want to familiarize yourself with 3ds Max. I heard them mention it once during a panel at PAX to model out Winter Contingency. After that, it's all up their own engine and devkit, which I have no knowledge about.

Thank you I will start with 3ds Max while I finish coming up with the required funds for college. I believe 3 months will give me the time i need to get it paid. Hopefully in maybe 10 years time I will be thanking you in credits. Though personally I don't watch the credits.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Good luck, OP!
