When I grow up, I want to be just like goofenhour.

Bungie didn't make Crimson: Steam Pirates. They just published the game through Bungie Aerospace.

Harebrained-Schemes developed the game.

Edit: Also Bungie left Halo, because they wanted to move on to create bigger and better things. Also, they didn't want to develop for the same franchise forever. They wanted to become an independent studio to develop the games they want to play, and in order to do that, they had to leave Halo in the rear view mirrow. It's an unfortunate side effect, but it had to happen. I don't think Microsoft would have let their best selling game franchise go.

No. This is just a Bungie Aerospace game. Be expecting plenty more to come. Bungie's next project will be realeased for the PS3 and possibly the Xbox 360 as well.

I like Halo...

They moved on.
Deal with it.
I am sure they are working on a awesome project now :D

And thus, I refute thee.

If you noticed Bungie's last vidoc, near end, I think they mentioned Activision in the captions...

Known by some, but not by all.

This and many more reasons. They are thinking stuff up as we speak.

Bungie didn't quit Halo, Microsoft gave Halo to someone who can produce the game faster AKA 343i.

And Bungie signed a with Activision. Bungie also gives independent producers the tools to produce games.

Unfortunately there is nothing amusing or witty here.

The way I see it, we now have Halo (being developed by 343i) BUT we also have Bungie and because Bungie is well... Bungie, you can expect more epic games.

There may not be a "I" in team, but there is a "I" in Win.

so your saying if u killed every other game population for the last ten years and you had the all-time most pre-ordered game (over 2 million, halo 3) you wouldnt get bored? id be bored as hell

I was surprised when people bashed Halo 4 when only a trailer came out, but bashing a game that we dont even know about? Or in fact have a single -blam!- clue about wtf the game IS?

They have a deal with Activision so it would make sense.

bungie went all cry moar in 2007 about needing "creative freedom" ... 4 years later and we can see how well that has worked out for them - lol.

Halo belongs to Microsoft. bungie didnt quit they got "betrayal booted" for what they did to the game and their own fan base.

Ironic - now bungie is playing at being publisher, even making start-up game developers rename the titles to include 'crimson' just to have some level of trademark control.
And they ranted about Microsoft always wanting control.

Just your average nice guy playing video games here in there. Been playing Halo since Halo 2. Hope to play Halo: CE.

Anyways, love everyone.

That is ironic. But it's also business. Roll in the cash.

Correct ... didnt leave, they got pushed like humpty dumpty.

And just like old humpty its yet to be seen if they can pull themselves back together again. Been 'independant' from microsofts control since 2007 ... 4 years ... and can anyone name what this has got them in that time?

P.S: Looking at main thread list, and less than handfull of posted on the whole crimson forum for yesterday ... has anyone even noticed humpty's absence?

Bungie in the end don't really care about you, they are a company that seeks profit, they know that they can release anything halo related and fan boys will jump on it. Bungie left halo to pursue bbigger more profitable things.. obviously but a division of bungie called 343 industries carry it on

Hello! I'm a male!

Look at all the idiots in here. For -blam!- sake people watch the god damn mother -blam!- vidoc. Bungie left Halo because the contract with Microsoft was over and Microsoft said -blam!- you to Bungie and kept it. >.> God damn retards.

  • 09.14.2011 5:32 AM PDT

wow, there is a lot of misinformation here

1. Bungie didn't want to stop making Halo, they had to leave it behind to have all the creative control over their product they wanted.

2. 343 isn't a "division" of Bungie, They actually have few former Bungie employees.

3. Nobody "pushed" Bungie away from Halo. Quite the opposite.

4. Bungie's focus is not casual games, they just are not talking about what they are working on now.

5. Bungie didn't make Crimson, they are just publishing for smaller studios that don't have the resources to launch on their own.

6. Bungie didn't name Crimson.

7. Reach was the most successful of all the Halo games, not just in sales volume, but also in concurrent players in matchmaking. It blew Halo 3's number out of the water. If the fans felt betrayed, they would not have done so much to make Reach #1 and keep crushing multiplayer a year after release.

"Bungie don't really care about you" ... and never did.

"they can release anything halo related" ... not any more. That belongs to Microsoft - bungie passed over everything halo in 2000. Touch it now and they get -blam!-ed slapped.
bungie have no rights - lol

"Bungie left halo to pursue bigger things" ... ummmm, like what??? And not "left" as got booted out screaming. bungie have been able to develop their own content and titles since 2007 ... but not even an announcement in the last 5 years.
Not even a hint at E3 (even to the ammazement of activision).

"division of bungie called 343 industries" ... 343 is Microsoft. Only thing 'bungie' about it is that many of the staff that left bungie to join 343 (bungie staff also left to join atomic, Certain Affinity etc). 343 is way better than bungie - even small things like letting the community know their future direction. From 343 we have the next two releases announced and planned ... from bungie we have what over the last 5 years?
