Since masterchief destroyed the ark and the other halo, are all the other halo's virtually inactive and in standby/

Not really. As long as the activation index exists, Halo remains a threat to all sentient life

While I don't believe they are on standby in a sense, I do believe just like the one before my post that an index can still fire the remaining rings. Also, there are still flood on them since their presence is contained on the worlds.

The DMR is a good weapon, not a sniper.
People overuse armour lock to much when getting killed.

I feel that without the ark it is like trying to work all indiviual car parts, difficult but not impossible.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

The other Halos can still be fired if they're discovered.

Oh sorry, we're actually discussing something different? That's amazing.

Seriously though, like stated above, Halo's can be set off individually, but without the Ark, I don't think they can all be set off at once.

Just a thought, but what if there's more than one ark? If you think about it, Guilty Spark didn't know everything about the Forerunners. So they could have built a backup unit or something in case the first one was overrun by The Flood.

Wait, so some halo's may have not been discovered? How far do they extend through the universe??

I think he's talking about the Ark. There are only 7 Halos, as evidenced by the one on the Ark being made to replace the one the Chief destroyed.

And while there were multiple shield worlds, no, I'm fairly confident there was only one Ark. Unless Halo 4 proves me wrong, of course.

On topic: The Halos are no longer on Standby I would think. The standby mode was to enable the Halos to be activated remotely, from the Ark. But since the Ark is too badly damaged, you would have to go to each Halo individually. So while they can still be fired via the Indexes, they are no longer really in that standby phase.
