This is actually REALLY easy to see, between MJOLNIR Personal Assault Armor and GUNGNIR, the supplemental combat armor designed alongside the spartan laser.

MJOLNIR connection: MJOLNIR was the name of Thor,s hammer, a powerful weapon that only Thor himself could use (like with Spartans, and how only they can utilize the armor effectively and without getting killed using it).

GUNGNIR connection: GUNGNIR was the name of Odin,s spear, a deathly accurate weapon that never missed. As well, Odin had only one eye, fitting seeing as the GUNGNIR helmet has only one "eye".

Discuss or correct PLZ ^^

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

There's also the HRUNTING/YGGDRASIL Mark I Prototype Armor Defense System, aka the Prototype armor in Halo: Legends. The generally accepted meaning of Old Norse Yggdrasill is "Odin's horse", so it goes on with the Norse terminology used in the Haloverse.

Also, Hrunting was a sword given to Beowulf by Unferth in the ancient Old English epic poem Beowulf. Further adding to said pattern.

History is written in blood, yet are battles really lost on the battlefield? Canst thou tell me where thou comest, and where thou goest, and what is, or what was, or what will be? For everything remains, AS IT NEVER WAS."

No sir. Yggdrasil is the Great World Tree, from which Odin hung for nine days. Odin's eight-legged horse is named Sleipnir.

On Norse lore, Hrunting is a sword that Beowulf used against Grendel's mother. Halo-wise, Loki is an AI on Harvest, and is the Norse God of fire and mischief. Sif was also an AI on Harvest, and was the wife of Thor. Adding to this, Loki - in Nordic lore - would often flirt with and try to seduce Sif, as happens in the Halo-lore as well.

Then there are two seas in Harvest, Hugin and Munin. These are Odin's ravens.
Fenris Warheads - Fenris was a son of Loki, the Great Wolf that would slay Odin come Ragnarok.
The Jotuns are machines on Harvest, in Norse lore they were the Giants.
Utgard is the capital of Harvest, and is the stronghold of the Giants in Nordic lore.
Valhalla - a Map on Halo 3, a dining hall for the fallen soldiers in Asgard.

The Index that John-117 retrieves is shaped almost exactly like Mjolnir, Thor's hammer.
On the Spartan Laser (Project: GUNGNIR,) there is even the Nordic symbol for Gungnir.

As well, the same symbol is found directly opposite of the camera eye on the GUNGNIR helmet.

Instant awesome, just add Norse.

Oops. I think I just lost your mind.

I always thought the naming of the HRUNTING/YGGDRASIL armor odd. One, Hrunting failed Beowulf, it melted or something when he tried to kill Grendel's mother with it. Two, the second part of the name doesn't really match the "Norse mythic weapon" theme that MJOLNIR and GUNGNIR set out. The dual name could indicate the armor system is a merging of two projects or technologies, and YGGDRASIL could be something more nebulous than the armor itself, like some kind of software?

I too found it odd. A cursed blade and the Tree of Life? It just furthers my opinion that the writers of Halo Legends did little to no research. I imagine them sitting around saying "Okay, Viking and what looks cool, this is what we use for this gundam-thing!" I mean, come on. There are a ton other Anime shows that bastardize Pagan lore. Naming some succubus heroine thing after The Morrighan? Travesty...
