Subject: Reporting.

The number of reports required to collapse a post needs to be reduced. There's a ton of Cena-ing at night while the Mods are sleeping, and there's nothing they (or we) can do besides report and move on, but until the post collapses, discussion is pretty much blocked in some threads.

Or something like this:

If an individual reports a post, I strongly believe it should collapse to the individual only.

Get what I'm saying?

What do you guys think?

Stop banning me please.

The number is probably like 7 reports. that isn't a whole bunch

  • 09.11.2011 2:18 AM PDT

It is when you want to get rid of spam quickly. Other than that, it's fine. I'd say 7 reports for an OP, and 3-4 for a post.

I guess trolling and spamming is a lot easier when responding to a thread when compared to creating one. People are learning to report his posts, but I don't see a problem with changing it (even if it is lowered to 3).

1- mistake
2- coincidence
3- something is up

That'd be great.

“Oh, it’s a little bit of everything, it’s the mountains, it’s the fog, it’s the news at six o’clock, it’s the death of my first dog, it’s the angels up above me, it’s the song that they don’t sing, It’s a little bit of everything.”

Maybe member titles could have an impact on the reporting system. For example, it could take four members, three Heroic members, two Legendary members, and one Mythic member's report to collapse a post.

Or just make the collapsing take fewer reports.

That seems like it would create more complications than solutions.
That's probably true, I was just trying to think of possible solutions.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I heard rumors that in some forums, the number is different.

But, I think the issue is not lowering the reports, but getting people to simply click the report button instead of quoting it and saying TROLOLOLO.

In the past Achronos has mentioned that one day there might be an option allowing users to filter out specific users.

Replying to spam should come with an automatic 7 day stint.

I agree, the problem stems from people not following the "report and move on" mentality.

The people who post "report and move on" in the threads should be given a month.
No, they should be given the same 7 day ban that you suggested for anyone replying to spam, as that's exactly what they are doing.

The "report and move on" replies are not helpful, however actually reporting and moving on is helpful.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

Is this just to be in the Flood and game forums? If it is to be site wide then this forum would have to be nuked.

The people who reply to spam are stupid, those who reply and tell others not to reply are even more stupid. A month.

People who reply to obvious spam end up being blacklisted anyway, or is it just me?

  • 09.11.2011 6:05 AM PDT

Yes, I've only seen about one or two people get banned for replying to a spam thread.

  • 09.11.2011 10:25 AM PDT

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

You have yet to take place in a mass carpet ban. They are so much fun!

I have never seen one. Ever.

I think they should make a sticky in The Flood saying "if you reply to a spam/parody/etc. thread, you'll get a 7-day. This -blam!- is srs bsns now," and actually enforced the rule, it'd cut out a ton of spam.
