Ropie. If you want to talk you had better sign on so I can talk to you... I can't very well talk to a wall... Sorry if I'm reading a bit short, but I'm a little tired from all the marching I did today.

Cortana should be CG with the voice being the actor they used for the game.

Sorry to pop up out of nowhere, but is there any way the landscape could be filmed on a real location, and then just modified to look like Halo?

Even though the odds are against a Halo movie, I think one, or several if bungie would prefer to split the stories up into seperate movies, should be made. Personally, I don't think that they should be released in theatres, rather distributed to the most hardcore Halo 2 players on Live for free, and to the rest of us at a price (albeit around $15-$20). I would be satisfied with movies made entirely from the Halo 2 engine (god knows they would look good enough for me), but following the story lines of the books. It would be a massive effort for bungie, and it probably wouldn't pay off, what with the creation of completely new environments and characters to populate them. We'd love them a little more if they made one though.

I agree. If Bungie were to headline the movie, they would get pretty much all the deserved credit, but if the film weren't good enough, their reputation could suffer. Bungie seems like a successfull organization, and to make a Halo film would mean a VERY calculated risk. All this in mind, it's doubtfull they would put it all on the line in that way.
-Still, I would like to see a halo movie.

I'm sure that bungie would not release a bad movie based on halo. They would try to get everything as perfect as it can be.

Does anyone know of any locations that look similar to locations in the books and game. I'm guessing that reach would be easy becuase it sounds very similar to earth, but i'm not sure about other places.

On the halo, there are scenes taken in "arctic" areas, complete with snow. To mimic the halo, a location from somewhere in the world would have to be computer-modified. There are some places that come to mind, such as the rockies, northern Canada, siberia, parts of the hymilayas, etc. The halo terrain is very cavernous with deep canyons, though, so it would be tough findind the right place to film. New zealand might work, as it did for the lord of the rings trilogy.

They could probabl take existing terrain and modify it with computers to get it to look like locations from halo.

Well, all I'm saying is that if they used real locations, they wouldn't need to work on that aspect of the film, so rather, they would be able to concentrate their CG effort on the characters, vehicles, weapons, and aliens. That would probably make the movie easier to produce. As long as Bungie's efforts are focused on what's really important for the story and graphics, then the movie would be phenominal.

Ya it's just easier that way. But I think we could film the video quiet well if we knew where we needed to go.

I doubt it will happen without Ben Afleck being involved ;) I, like many others have thought about a Halo movie that starts with The Fall of Reach and then sequals that explore the first and second games. I think it would have to be done ont he same scale as Lord of the Rings or Spiderman to make it believeable. I would say that if they can come up with a way to make the average viewer (not the sort that play the game and even post to forums about it) buy into the whole story right away, then it could easiliy make a great movie or three. Really, with the way that games are being made these days, I think they deliver stories much better than movies do anyway. In the past few years, I've played several games (Halo included) that were so good that even non-gamers would get drawn in and spend hours watching others play.

With that said, I think that I'd be content with a few more Halo games. Most importantly a prequel where you get to be MC without the armor and fight space pirates and the sort (like in The Fall or Reach). Each step along the way you could pick up better weapons and even go through both sets of armor mentioned in the book. I think some of my favorite aspects of the book are going to be put into the new game, like low grav, and multiple Spartans. That might make a prequel not worth the time. We shall see. I guess my point is that no matter what the media, I'm not ever goig to get sick of this story and these characters.
