Moderator Response: The rules state that you should not bypass the profanity filter. Placing special characters in words so -blam!- doesn't come up is considered bypassing the profanity filter (the same can be said by putting @ in "-blam!-" so it doesn't get censored... and yes, I know that will end up being censored and therefore a pointless example). bobcast did what was within his rights as a moderator of Bungie.net.Gotcha. With everyone saying 'it's easier to infer'... Most of the time when i see blam in specific phrases... I pretty much infer whatever makes the most sense. but whatever
If it hasn't already been mentioned, maybe you should just PM bobcast and see if he wouldn't mind giving you an explanation. Of course, he doesn't have to explain why another member has been banned (banned/banner confidentiality and all... right?).
Personal Response: Meh.I wasn't really directing it towards bobcast, so i guess using the quote in the OP was a bad idea. Either way, it was just a general question about self censorship and why it's against the rules.
I can see where placing an @ rather than an A is bypassing, seeing as though it shows the full word... but putting the first letter with ******* doesn't make sense to me.
Rewind back a few months as well, i posted a thread about a CD titled "Awesome as [Letter***]". The CD was literally titled that, so was it entirely fair that i was warned for posting a CD title, unintentionally "bypassing" the filter?
I don't care, but it's the same thing that we're talking about now.
Thanks for the respond, DMB
