Bip Bap Bam in the brainpan!

You know that 2d nintendo game Wolfenstein? Well after playin Marathon PC at my friends house, i couldn't help but be reminded of Wolfenstein and how it was so eerily familiar to the tight corners and tunnels of Marathon. Infact, lookin back, the gun even looks the same.

That's because back in 1996, every game looked like every other game.

"You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space." -Johnny Cash

Games take other ideas from other games. It's nothing new.

I spend too much time here.. too much time indeed.

I tweet?

The only Wolfenstein game I recall from then would have been a port of Wolfenstein 3D for the SNES. Which doesn't remind me much of Marathon and actually predates it.

This. I thought it was common knowledge that Marathon followed Wolftenstein and Doom, which it improved upon. It's part of the reason Marathon received so much praise, it was pushing the possibilities of the genre then.

Plus Marathon was released for the Macintosh, while (if my memory serves correctly) Wolfenstien and Doom were PC exclusives.

And what a blatant rip-off.... All they did was reverse the letters in the name.

What kind of word is "Pong" anyways? It doesn't even make sense!

Um...

Table Tennis is called Ping Pong. Hence the name.

They had a war based off the game.

Nope, Alex Seropian has definitely went on record that Desert Storm was based off his game.

How would we know not to like Saddam if his head wasn't the final boss?
