How not to be seen, don't stand up.

Often when I have made a poll, I have done so sometimes for mundane reasons. Other times, I have done so to help ease the wait for a game to be released. A moderate time ago, I made a poll and noticed the restrictions on the number of options available. Recently, I came across a poll asking people what their favorite RvB character was. The original poster was flamed and insulted for not including people's favorites due to the limited space on the poll. Sights like these remind me of the limitations of Bungie's post system.

As such, I would like to put forth the proposal to extend the number of poll options to 10 instead of 8 in order to not alienate those who feel left out over a dirth of voting options.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

We understand your proposal, and are now considering it.
...
We have reached an answer.
No.

(Joke)
I kinda like the idea, but the results would be more spread out.

You do not speak for the community, nor have you put forth a reason as to why this cannot be so.

The Community forum has a history of rejecting ideas for completely silly reasons. ;)

But I like this idea. Little harm could come from this.

In my opinion, if you need to have more than four options in a poll, then you shouldn't have a poll.

Twitter.
WyIdfyre: 'lol, who the hell would even wear those?'
AuSam: 'lol, who the hell would even have sex with dogs?'

The polls feature is pretty -blam!- anyway imo - with the majority of people who use it inserting an 'obligatory third option', or even just making the whole thing a joke.
Giving them more options just screws up the data in almost all cases - it's far better to word your question in the thread than to let people answer it in the polls, the discussion is worth far more than an anonymous tick box.

Basically - I think that's pretty low on the priorities list, when in most situations such as your example - a poll isn't required if you word it in the thread, and just ask for reasoning with you answer; e.g. I like Tex the most because her voice reminds me of the time I spent frolicking with Qbix beneath the covers. or whatever.

It generates activity for the thread, and gives people something to talk about.

What if someone was discussing things like builds in another game in the off-topic forum? Or maybe discussing a favorite book...

I respect your view, and I even see the reasons for it. However, wouldn't your idea limit any discussions involving polls severely?

Yes, I actually like the idea, my post was supposed to be sarcastic. Yanno, because people usually will post in any proposal with a negative post. It was a joke, lol.

Yet, not many read every response, the poll is there for those who simply do not have the time to read everything in order to accurately gauge an appropiate response. Polls may or may not hamper discussion, but I can pose a question to discuss and have a poll at the same time.

I do admit, you also have some very valid points.

In the examples you have put forth, they would all be better answered, in my opinion, with a reply rather than a poll option.
