Yes. If a user constantly posts in the wrong forum or purposely ignores the rules about threads and posting then I don't see why not in my opinion.

The overwhelming majority of the time they just get a warning. However, if the person makes a habbit of posting in the wrong forum they will get banned.

What do you think of my first ban?

Habbit? Like, a hobbit-rabbit?

OT: Yeah, I thought that was the policy.

“Strange,” mused the Director, as they turned away, “strange to think that even in Our Ford’s day most games were played without more apparatus than a ball or two and a few sticks and perhaps a bit of netting. imagine the folly of allowing people to play elaborate games which do nothing whatever to increase consumption.”

The Black Chapter!

Forget the ban, people who post in the wrong forum should just have their teeth kicked in.

If it's a new-comer to the site, they don't deserve a ban. It's like putting a "GET OUT!" mat on the front door step.

However, if they're not new, they should know by then what forum to post in. Givng them a 3-day ban or warning would make sense.

On December 1st, 2012, I met Neil deGrasse Tyson. I shook the man's hand, and even made him laugh. Not much else to do with my life now.

Nope.

I think a kind redirection would be just fine. A PM from the moderator at most.

It's a stupid rule.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Yes, I have been banned for it before.

But, there is a grey line also.

Where you can post something that COULD belong in 2 forums.

It is up to interpretation.

BUT, things like posting Halo in the community forum is not right

Right here. I remember posting about Lego Halo in the wrong forum a long time ago. I got a warning and I got it. I understood.

Also, I agree. When someone is "purposefully" posting in the wrong forum, If not a warning, then a ban. Depending on ban history of course.

We've been instructed to issue warnings, but we never ban unless it's purposeful (ex. "I know this is supposed to go in the Gallery, but I'm posting it here instead").

We've also been instructed to not move threads unless there's a good reason for it.

Why?
I don't really see a problem with moving something.

Can someone tell me what's wrong with these two, this made me LOL hard.

If it's a first time, I think it should just be moved. If it's recurring, then yes.

Well of course it is against the rules.

I agree with a lock, but I am totally against the result of a ban.

It shouldn't. Personally, I've sometimes accidentally gone into the wring forum to make a thread, and noticed the mistake all too late.

It shouldn't be banable, but then again I've been banned for clicking the wrong macro which linked someone to the wrong forum in a situation where I was trying to tell them where their post belonged.
