You know how you are at a game with your favorite team.. and your favorite player doesnt show.. to the one game that you go to... That total feeling of being let down? And somebody says.. well "thats life.. " and that saying makes you feel worse?... thats how halo2 was today at microsofts game.

I just got back from E3, where I played Prime2, UnrealChamp2, Killzone, saw the new movie demos for HL2.. and the whole time I kept thinking why did Bungie and Microsoft let me down this year. Microsoft has a bunch of good games dont get me wrong.. but not seeing Halo2 is such a downer that it just makes you wonder if they really arent going to release this year. I dont care what they say on this site.. im personally sick of all the hype that Frank and the others say....one or two screen shots that dont show the FPS mode..of how we will play... etc etc. Even the video they released to the press.. looked rushed..nothing hard core.. no shock and awe stuff.. I dont buy either that they dont want to show cool modes or this and that... the games above all have something cool and different about them.. and they had the balls to be at the show.Actually Unreal Champ 2 really wowed me.. with its different gameplay and good graphics.. and thats a game that has little hype. HECK EVEN DOOM3 which I now remember had balls to be on the show floor. Will I still get the game yea... I think there is something that they dont tell us.. I mean why would microsoft not have this on the show floor.. its weird.. its a downer.. rant... call it what you will... but for Halo2 not being there... 5 others shine now more to me.. all from nintendo, sony, and even microsoft.
If they release some lame pic thats not from the first person view to the website here.. that just sucks for us fans. Give us some meat and not just the bones.

I've been there today. I asked.. you have to be Press to get in the back. WEBCAM?!?! greasy controller from last person playing in my hand E3 like they did for the first one is what I want. No theater.. no flyers.. no booth.....zero marketing on floor...nothing if you are there at the show you'd see what I mean..no cinematic trailer....what im trying to say is.. Halo 2 is not game of the show... who ever says it is.... is just spewin fanboy crap...

E3 is primarily a press thing, pleasing fans is secondary.

Which you think would be counter-productive... but it's not, funny how that works... That's why I think the PAX is probably one of the greatest ideas ever conceived by... geeks(?). Gaming first, hype second (or at least how I see it). This is where conventions should head, screw all that press bs, I want to play some games...

Kepp is right, its just to give people a taste good enough to get people addicted like chocolate coffee flavored cigarettes. Then its a killer when you can't immediately go to the store and get what you want. So you are all over it like stank on -blam!-. Either through the web or through other means of information. I won't disagree when I say that the game should have came out when they first said it would. However, I would rather have a bug free game than a rushed game full of glitches. Come November 9th. I think everybody will be singing to a different tune in regards to being let down or not. Go to ign and check out the videos they are pretty cool. Watching them just makes me want the game even more.

No one's going to comment on my PAX comment? Now I feel let down :(

They should make a convention for gamers I know E3 is supposed to be that place... but it's not. So what the hell happened? PAX is making the step in the right direction, I just hope more people catch on to this idea.

The reason I didn't comment about PAX is because I had never heard of them. I just got done checking the site and I agree they should make it about the gamers. Unfortunately in this day and age all conventions (including the video gaming) is run by Corperate Marketing Beaurocrats. I don't think that is going to change anytime soon either. They only care about the dollar signs. I was surprised that they didn't decide to wait until the day after Thanksgiving. That would have made some big big bucks.

Buddy, Halo 2 couldn't be on the show floor because people would riot. Microsoft decided to have controlled session with the Fat Cat gaming journalists, and not with us regular folk. Also, Halo 2 hasn't come out yet (No duh, i know) so the creators can tease us as much as they like. It just Makes us want it more. i would chew off my left leg to play that game right now... i would regret it come Nov. 9 though.

Agreed. I guess that's the reality of things... for now. I for one am seriously considering going to that little shindig (PAX I mean). But, it would mean a several hour drive just to get there, not to mention the fact that I need to rope somone into driving me down.

That's why I get jitters just thinking about PAX, fortunately the guys running it are true gamers. They've managed to build a very competent community, some of the people that are going are posting carpool information in the Forums, so that they can pick people up when they go... shweet.

Not going to change anytime soon? Well as a little, frail, bald East Indian once said "You must be the change you wish to see in the world." Although I very much doubt he was talking about the convention scene... meh.

FALCO, quit -blam!-IN , you sound like my sister,. first off their 2003 appearence at E3 was more than what most companies are willing to show and risk during 5 years of E3, so even if they had shown nothing this year ..so what. i think they give plenty. BUNGIE is not in the business of releasing screenshots and press. they are in the business of creating a kick ass game. plus we havent even got to pete parsons thursday speech he is giving on halo 2, so shut up and go to the BARBIE forum if you wanna whine and complain.

I am tired of seeing FanBoy this and fAnbOy that...

Bungie does not owe you, me, them, anything.
I am happy to have what is given, happy that I know the date.

And I am happy with EVERYTHING that has been changed.

I am sorry you feel let down, but hang in there.
Don't be so spoiled, you can't always get what you want.

First off, Prime 2, Unreal 2, Killzone, and even the mighty Half-Life 2 don't have nearly the amount hype of Halo 2. Because they don't, these games have to be on the floor to create a buzz for themselves. Bungie doesn't need to put Halo 2 on the floor to get the industry talking about it, it's already the most anticipated game ever, period! I'm sure all of those other games you played were great, but the very fact that they were on the floor shows their need for hype. That is all E3 is about... hype. Bungie already has enough preasure to make Halo 2 absolutely perfect. The last thing they need is to look into internet forums all over the fan community and see the little nick picky comments that are already begining to show up about the MP video. Basically, Bungie is king of the hill right know, and they don't need to spend extra time making some playable demo for E3. All their time and effort is going into making a great finished product, not some half@$$ demo that could stab them in the back. This is good news... Bungie is more focused on the game, not the hype!

Second off, Doom 3 has been in production for twice as long as Halo 2, something like 4 or 5 years. If id didn't put Doom 3 on the show floor this year, I think fans of the game would boycott. They had to put Doom 3 on the the floor.

I know im -blam!-ing.
I'd also argue that HL2 is just as hyped and frenzied about as halo2. Its just on a different platform.

Not according to many, many polls.

Edit:
And if you just came to Bungie.net via Halo (which there's nothing wrong with that, so don't get the wrong message), you wouldn't know this:

Bungie is one of the most secretive companies. Ever. They're not going to release their ideas just so people can make Halo clones before the damned game comes out.
