Hi everyone, I posted this earlier and was somewhat irratible, I appologize but you must be able to understand where I am coming from can't you? Living in the woods your whole life, not being able to get cable or DSL and knowing about the bliss that is online gaming. I get to college and I have resnet! A t1 line! Rejoice! Rapture my soul shouts out! But wait.....
whats this.......xbl cant be reached! WHAT THE !!$#%^&*(*&^%$#! Ok, so when I try to connect to xbl (i bought a spiffy starter pack and everything! :) ) it says it cant be reached. I try the things it says even though they are a waste of time, reconnecting, waiting, make sure you got the right cable, I check the website, nothing. I try running it through the Jack directly and it still doesnt work. The router (hub) doesnt work, I dont know what to do.
Please help a fellow halo lover out, all I want to do is have some fun on nov 9th on xbl with the rest of you.
Please help me.
Thank you.

if it is going through your college you might need to register your mac address of you xbox. your best bet is to contact your schools tech support. i'm sure they have dealt with this issue many times.

guys? I dont know what a mac address is how would that affect my xbox if I can get online using the same jack to get online with my computer?

Find out what company the T1 line belongs to by asking one of the IT guys ect. Then, call the provider and ask if they support Xbox Live (or simply check their website).

I hope that helps, even if it is a bit self-explanatory.

Obannon, to find the MAC address on your Xbox, go to settings->Network. It's in the lower right hand corner. In big letters it says "MAC ADDRESS".

Er Edit: The reason you need to register the MAC Adddress is that many many many school campuses are getting paranoid with all the research files on their networks and all the viruses going around. For this reason they are 'allowed' to run checks on your system to make sure you are secure.

Uh. You live in a dorm. If you aren't going to an all-girls-school, you should have zero issues finding system link games.

That is a terrible stereotype. The Mormons at my high school played Halo is their seminary class all the time.

I dont know, it doesnt work though, when i try to troubleshoot the connection it gets to the last step where it says trying to connect to xbox live, and all the info it gives me is to try reconnecting cables, turning off modem then back on, which i cant do and check the website which I did and was no help at all! If it was a firewall issue it wouldnt act this way right?
