Well what did you expect? This forum's community has degraded completely in the last year. It's on a downward spiral that is snowballing at a fast rate. Some people have been crushed and haven't returned; while others have crawled on. The community continues to be divided among those who were here before the big influx of Halo 3, and those who were here before.
Titles have, and always will, divide people's prejudices. There are specific groups of people that will side with you, or go against you. But generally they follow the same guidelines, that those that agree have the same title of equal or greater value, and those who have lost their title, but have come to terms with the facts that it doesn't really matter on one side of the coin. The flip side being that quite a few users view posts based on titles.
It's an inherent fact that the admins fail to recognize as a leech on the quality, content, and overall well-being of the forums. It doesn't take a rocket scientists, let alone a programmer, to discover that titles were a bad idea. Yet they continue to exist?
I personally hate titles. Why? Because back when I first joined they were the sole reason upon which you viewed ones post. It was down right agitating. I was almost completely ignored. If you look at any other forum site, they don't envelope the post in a title. The post stands alone as a single person's views, not a flashy color that is used as a basis of judgement.
I have pushed for these changes time and time again. Yet they end with me standing alone in the rain. There is a secret cult of pseudo intellectuals that exist in this community, that feel they are the elites of the world, and only their opinion matters. After people have tried repeatedly to get recognized by these "elitists", they never are. Such activity takes away from the value of the community. Making some feel lesser than other, eventually driving them away. This cycle repeats again, and again.
I didn't set very high expectations when I first joined this community. But I later learned that it has its highs and lows. Be that as it may, the lows highly outweigh anything of recognizable value in this community. Those "elitists" have a voice in few numbers, while the rest of the community needs numbers to get their point across. I could continue to banter on, but whats the point? I'm a nobody. Most people don't even know who I am. Which makes my post pointless in this community, except for those who agree with me, and want a change in this community.
