SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

I nominate this for thread of The Month.

Someone second this please.

OT: I realize I've made one on topic post in this thread so far, so I'll try to remedy that now.

I don't actually think we need to do away with titles. They are a useful way to find out what is going on there. While DDD asserts that they draw undue attention to some posts, I really think that's necessary. They go hand in hand IMO. The whole point of a title is to draw attention to the actual post. Without one, there's not really any point to having the other.

Its actually a bit worst in this scenario than its antithesis. Titles without posts would still provide some, albeit seriously lacking discussion utility. Though I'll hold my tongue on this matter for now. Perhaps someone will make a topic to address titles without posts later.

In summary, this thread is spectacular. In keeping with the model in which this topic brought to light everyone stopped reading my post already, so I can continue to talk about the real connotation here. This continues to be funny to me. I hope the mods don't mistake its true intention and lock it due to it appearing to be another stupid user title thread.

Thank you.

I'm the cult of personality,
I call it like i see it, if i feel the need to be blunt and to the point, then i will, if i feel the need to be very detailed, i will, im here to stay and im here to do things my way, if you respect that or not is your choice, not mine,
and don't worry, while i don't agree with everyone's opinion, i do respect everyone's opinion.

i read the entire post, and i completely agree.

Fine...Seconded.

I would make a thread to one-up this one but I don't have the time nor the money to make it a reality.

No avatar pics either. Admins and Forum mods get special pics that I can't have. That's just not fair!

Seriously, though, titles or no titles... whatever. They're irrelevant to me.

Neo has officially been promoted to barf cleaner-upper and pukee hair holder.
I am honored to have that position. While your barfing I can steal your wallets!

It's creepy enough that people stalk Bungie via Webcams, but it's even worse how they stalk back.

I don't even recall making legendary. I went underway once, was normal member. Came back after a few months with legendary. Must have been a pogrom here that wiped out all the older legendary members.

Wait, fabled!? I liked intrepid better.... whatever...

Anyway, I think titles should stay. I've grown to used to and fond of them.

Enough with the title talk already, they should stay, they're here for fun, nothing more.
Titles never factor into my decision to read or respond to a post.

Although they probably should...out of the vast majority of threads I've read and written I rarely ever see a Legendary+ member act like a fool or troll. Regular members on the other hand...well you get my point.

Gold text is the only thing that will gain my immediate recognition.

Achronos: And what's this about a "design team" I've been hearing? Apparently stosh is so awesome he's now considered a "team".

I must admit that I do this and see other people doing it too. However the reason the titles are here is to show that the user is trusted so it would make sense for someone to take more notice to a more trusted member.

cortana 5 : It's perpetually my time of the month and I'm just grouchy.
Foman: I see absolutely no reason, either theoretical or practical, that this is not a superb idea. Excellent work, my friend.

Then we'd also have to take away usernames if we want to get rid of posting prejudice, as well as making join date invisible. That'd go further to remove any bias there may be than a title removal.

What about users who decide to post content such as leaks, spoilers, and or spam some irrelevant discussion topic? You wouldn't want peoples experiences to be ruined by this new feature you have wanted to see implemented for, from what I assume, quite some time.

But, seeing as the probability of choosing one of the above thread topics is in fact low at the point of irrelevancy no matter where you decide to set foot, I see no problem with implementing this.

What a hipster.

Personally, I only see titles as a way to increase the punishment of a ban. After awhile you get something you feel like you earned and accomplished, then you do something "wrong" in the sense of the website, and poof there it goes. The system works on that hopefully the lesson is learned. Bias users just come as apart of the package. Don't get me wrong though, it works.

Yeah, most people are probably biased towards reading Mythic posts, but they have good reason to be. Mythic members generally post better posts. They've usually been on the forums for years after all.

I strongly believe title factors in more than your silly points about members. However, your theory on gold text may have ground.

You're right, spoilers are a common complaint among users, now more than ever. I don't know of the probability, but there is an obvious logical benefit.

People can't learn lessons from disappear titles? How would they even disappear? Are you suggesting they are deleted or hidden?

I am open to doing free clan tags for anyone. Contact me on my deviant art profile through a note and NOT on my comments page as they will not be acknowledged.

Click on the "My Homepage" button to be directed to my page.

I agree completely.

I find many ignore the intelligent posts of people that only hold the title of "member"; people such as myself. It can be disheartening but even I find myself being more attracted to the blue and light grey title bars.

I think they should be done away with as well. Bungie should allow the use of Custom Avatars, so that the users are recognised by their choice of picture in association with their screen name.

The colours should be available for the user to make a choice on what they would like to display. Bungie employees and mods should be given small emblems where the title is currently located so that we can differentiate them from the general crowd, perhaps their coloured text would remain the same while the general crowds text would continue to stay its default colour.
