I have never heard of an account where a member made a single "simple mistake" and was blacklisted. I've seen where members made the same mistake, and decided to not read the rules (and the mods don't always have to give an explanation, since the rules are at the top of every forum), thus getting themselves blacklisted. But I don't think any mod would blacklist a person right off of the bat because they made one mistake.
And just a random thought, but I think people know when something happens to their thread that they shouldn't be doing it, even if they don't necessarily think about that consciously. I don't think it harms a person's mind in any way when they are blacklisted.

when i was a newbie here, and unaware of the PM system and google talk, i saw a flame filled thread, and made a new thread about it to try and get the flamer blacklisted. my first and only time.
guessed what happened when shishka came along. yep. i got blacklisted. also, i had just finished typing the FAQ in my sig when i refreshed, and saw half an hours work wiped out by one paragraph.
did i mention that nothing happened to the guy i was trying to report?
also, as for being permanently scarred... you have no idea... the stupidity in zanzibar... no way to reply and show them how wrong they were... the horror... the horror...
*runs to corner and starts sucking thumb*
this is why shishka needs to let up on his ninja unleashing button now and then.
