Subject: A question about the Halo: Evolutions Novels.

Hey, I have read most of the Halo novels by now:
The Fall of Reach
The Flood
The First Strike
Ghosts of Onyx
Contact Harvest
Cole Protocol

Although I don't know much about the more recent books: The Evolutions books, Cryptum, Primordium, and Helljumper..

I think I want to start reading the Evolutions books, but I don't know what ones to get.
I am confused with the 3 different "versions" of Evolutions, I know it's a collection of mini-stories, but I don't really get the Volume I and Volume II, then the Halo: Evolutions: Essential Tales of the Halo Universe book..
I see that the Volumes books were released after(more recently than) the normal one, but is anything from the Volumes books that is not included in the normal one?
Which book or books should I get??
(Sorry if this is a little confusing, but I need some clarifaction..!)

The non-volume one has all the stories I believe. Mine does at least.

We should know better, because we are better.

The original Evolutions is the same thing as Volume one and two. 343 decided to split the novels to get more money and to encourage people to buy it again they gave V.1 and V.2 an additional short story.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Get Halo Evolutions. Try and get it in the form in which it's only one book, not Volume One and Volume Two. My book is a single version that has all of the stories.

Halo Evolutions was amazing, and had some of the best pieces of Halo story I have ever read. The short story ''Dirt'' blew my mind.

Helljumper is a comic, and Cryptum and Primordium are novels about the Forerunners.

Signatures are for squares.

Evolutions is 500+ pages and has all the short stories.
Evolutions I and II are just the first book split into two volumes, and each volume has one new (short) story.

Just buy the 500 page version.

I'd recommend picking up Halo: Evolutions. Some pretty good stories in there, two of my favorites being Dirt and the other being The Mona Lisa. I only originally picked it up though because it had Eric Nylund and Karen Traviss in it. Still have to read the new books on the Forerunners, heard they were pretty good, haven't read any previews yet though. The comics (Helljumper) were also pretty decent, nice art and an interesting story. They mostly focus on Romeo/Dutch though prior to the Halo events.

Ahh ok, thanks! I will do that. ;)

If anybody has read them, how are the two extra short stories in the Volumes 1 and 2?

Ya, what are the extra stories about? Anything good?

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

One is about a Forerunner named Soma the Painter rambling on about something odd she notices in her painting, then the Flood arrive. The second is about this chick, it's contents are fuzzy to me.

And what is The Blood Line about? Any good?

So basically not worth reading(or at least buying 2 seperate copies)

1.Blood Line is a separate comic book about Black Team. It's a decent read.

2. Yeah, it's not really worth the money, in regards to Evolutions I and II.

Anybody know how The Fall of Reach: Bootcamp is?

Just a comic retelling of the first part of the Fall of Reach novel. Never got it since the book itself isn't my cup of tea.

How about Uprising?

Sorry for all of these questions but I could never figure it out..
and hard to know what ones are the actual novels(I mainly want to get the novels..)

Uprising is near the start of Halo 3. It follows the story of Chief on Truth's ship and Colonel Ackerson's brother. It's skippable really.

Can't touch my awesomeness!!!!

I'd recomend Halo: Evolutions {favs: Dirt (involves The Rookie from ODST), The Return, Headhunters, and Palace Hotel} Helljumper gives a good story about the ODST's Dutch, Romeo, and Dutch's wife Gretchen, and a new post-Halo 3 book is coming out called Grasslands, it will continue the story of "Ghosts of Onyx" and will continue the relations of humanity and the elites, and ONI is trying to help an elite start an insurection against the Arbiter and keep the elites divided so that they don't attack the UNSC.
Sorry about the long list.

Yes they are good.

Soma the painter details the life of Soma on a secret planet at the edge of the galaxy,sh starts to paint some double sun fenomenal then notices the arrival of the Flood from intergalactic space.

Wages of sins is about a prophet aboard high charity during the time of the Flood attacking it,he thinks off all sins the prophets did in their life like declaring a war to the Humans, betraying the Sangheili, allowing the brutes into the covenant, their failure to succesfully reverse engineer Forerunner tech,...very intresting

@OP

If you haven't bought Halo evolutions yet then i suggest you buy the two volumes.

The price of the original one on Amazon is 6.00 dolllar

The price of Volume I and Volume II seperate is 2.75 dollar, which means that the two volumes together are 5,5 dolar, that's cheaper then the original one not to mention you get two new stories included and pages wit new art.

Doesn't sounds as a ripoff to me if the wo volumes are cheaper then original.

Sooooo, buy volume I and II and not the original.Cheaper, more content and thus better.

Edit: Volume I is even more cheaper then i tought at amazon,it's 1,96 dollarw

Why?The two volumes offer more advantages.

I agree with this.

Savor every minute of 'Dirt' and 'Mona Lisa'. They are gems.

But seriously why ,that's just stupid. The two volumes are better because:

-Both Volumes I and II together are cheaper then a single orginal
-Two new stories
-New art

I have already asked this before and i'll do it again:Why?

Why would you want the OP to pay a bit more ,so he can't enjoy a little more content and the other advantages (see above)
I call BS on that.

It's better to have everything in one place, instead of two.

What are the other two extra stories?

Not why you consider to stories and some art a big advantage.
