It wont let me start the demo. It has a Fatal Error saying " a problem occured initializng direct3D. Hardware acceleration maybe disabled, please run DXDIAG." Thats the exact words it says. And ive downloaded the new directX, Direct 9.0, and Gamespy Arcade. I also downloaded the new WinZip 10.0


What should I do...

i'm always haveing an error message pop up in halo pc. You might try to update halo pc or update your GFX card. That's all i can tell you.

His card is fine. Re install halo. If that doesn't work update your drivers.

Wait, I think I know the problem.

If you have Windows XP and Service Pack 2 installed, go to http://www.microsoft.com/games/halo/downloads.asp and you should find a file which you put in your Halo Trial folder to fix the problem.

Ok I updated my driver but now it says "halo cannot connect to the internet".

Hmm.updated drivers.
Try re-installing it again.
If that doesn't work then i don't know what else to tell you.

Okay, so you can get into the game, right? If it won't connect to the internet, that's a different problem from the one you had before. I suggest checking for any firewalls/computer security software. Make sure you set any firewalls to allow Halo to connect to the internet, as well as open up ports 2302 and...2303? for internet access.

Windows Firewall doesn't affect Halo at all, and you also might want to check the very basics. Sometimes, you try everything in the world before realizing you're a dumbass that left the Modem box on Standby or something. I've done that at least twice before.
